If you're trying to hire a freelancer at usually it's because of the small project that you have to get accomplished or you're a startup in you're looking to bootstrap and not spend a lot of money.

A lot of the issues with freelancers stem from the fact that they're not the quality of somebody who would hire into your firm.

But how can you ensure quality? ??

How do we separate the poor quality to low-quality freelancers from the good ones who you actually want to work with?

Stop treating them like freelancers and start treating them like employees.

Interview them.

Get on the phone and talk to them.

Ask them questions.

This is not invasive you're paying this person.

• Do they have the skills required?
• Are they easy to work with?
• Are they a good cultural fit?
• Are they punctual?
• Are they responsive?

All the things that I care about when you hire an employee are the things you need to care about when you hire a freelancer.

They'll be ok with questions because they know their value.

Stop selling them short.

Treat them like employees and your success rate go up significantly. ??????
