San Diego, CA-based nonprofit organization Dreams For Change has announced that Scott Suckow has joined its Board of Directors. Suckow, an affiliated partner with VPI Strategies, brings a wealth of experience and expertise in alliance development, government relations, association management, and fund development.
As a senior consultant for Perry Communications Group through VPI Strategies, Suckow works with patient advocates to address policy issues that impact access to care and treatment. Perry Communications Group is an independent, full-service strategic communications firm specializing in public relations and public affairs. Additionally, through VPI Strategies, Suckow provides executive management services to two regional nonprofit organizations: the Liver Coalition of San Diego, which promotes liver health and meets the needs of those affected by liver disease in San Diego County, and the Northeast Ohio Liver Alliance, which supports persons living with liver disease in Northeast Ohio.
Previously, Suckow served as the Vice President of Development and Government Relations with Mental Health Systems, a California state-wide provider of behavioral health services. He is also the past Executive Director of the International Bipolar Foundation, a nonprofit headquartered in San Diego with globally accessible programs in over 75 countries. He is the former Chief Executive Officer of Mental Health America of San Diego County, the leading mental health advocacy organization in San Diego County.

In addition to his work with Dreams For Change, Suckow currently serves as the chairperson of Patient Advocates United in San Diego County, board chairman of the Hepatitis C Mentor & Support Group, Inc., and as a national ambassador for the Center for Patient Advocacy Leaders (cPALS). He has been named one of San Diego Magazine’s "50 People to Watch" and is a Star of Advocacy recipient by the California Chronic Care Coalition.
