The Scotland in Lockdown Project

Colleagues from the Scottish Centre for Crime and Justice Research , Dr Caitlin Gormley, Dr Nughmana Mirza and Dr Phillippa Wiseman have created a graphic novella based on research findings for the Scotland in Lockdown project.

The?Scotland in Lockdown?project explored how different groups in Scotland experienced lockdown in relation to their health and general well-being.?

They worked collaboratively with ethnographic illustrator Sophia Nelson and many of the project partners to produce powerful images that tell the stories of research participants in composite form. A series of these illustrations were displayed at the ARCadia Festival last month.

Nughmana Mirza?said: “We wanted to capture the key findings of the Scotland in Lockdown project in an accessible, engaging and meaningful way, through visual as well as written content. In doing so, we produced illustrated stories, through the medium of art and illustrative visual graphics, that capture life in lockdown during the Covid-19 pandemic among 4 marginalised communities in Scotland."
