SCORE BIG: prize fund for Women’s FA Cup doubles to £6m

An additional £3m investment has been approved by the FA Board for the 2023/24 season

For clubs competing in the third round and beyond of English football's biggest domestic cup competition, the prize pot per match will now be £44,000 up from the original £12,500. The £31,500 increase will ensure “success in the competition is rewarded”, while the prize pot for the final will also go up from £150,000 to £538,000.

This sizable boost in funding kicks in right when Barclays Women’s Championship clubs, the second-highest division of women's football in England, enter the competition. Baroness Sue Campbell is director of women’s football at the FA and told Sport Industry Daily:?

“It showcases a clear commitment to the future of the Women’s FA Cup and will help us maintain its stature as the most prestigious domestic women’s cup competition in the world.” The “long-term ambition” is to receive the same prize money as men, with this being a “positive step” in the right direction.” ?
