The medical standard emphasises the safety of devices, ensuring reliable processes and product quality. Successful certification and careful selection of components enable the development of top-class Human Machine Interface (HMI) solutions for medical applications. This requires specific expertise and innovative design and production methods due to the high medical technology requirements.
Power Dissipation in Power Entry Modules.
Power entry modules (PEMs) are electrical components that combine in an appliance inlet to ensure a safe power supply. These modules include mains switches, fuseholders, circuit breakers, and filters. Each component is tested according to its component standard to be certified by certification bodies. PEMs are designed for specific minimum and maximum ambient temperatures, with maximum rated current only used at the rated temperature. At higher temperatures, current must be reduced, usually specified in the temperature derating on data sheets.
