?
The Orange County Board of Education will be hosting a School Safety Forum on September 20th. The School Safety Forum will delve into different aspects of school safety, informing school parents, students and staff about best practices on how to keep students safe at school. The forum will have a panel of experts that will address several different topics related to students, teachers and staff safety.?
The President of the Orange County Board of Education stated about the upcoming Forum: “The fentanyl crisis contributes to hundreds of drug overdose deaths every day. The National Institute on Drug Abuse states that an average of 128 people in the US are dying daily from opioid overdose. Victims of sexual assault and human trafficking suffer unspeakable trauma and abuse. These crises are affecting many of our students, often happening under the radar and going unreported. Having savvy surveillance, social media, and cybersecurity awareness can help families with additional tools to better combat these risks. We all have a shared interest in ensuring our school communities are safe, and we are committed to collaborating with our law enforcement partners, school districts, and families to enhance public safety in our schools from every possible threat.”
Tim Shaw Vice President of the Orange County Board of Education also stated: “School safety is of paramount importance, and we need to make our school communities as safe as they can be. That is why this forum is important because we will be covering multiple topics about school safety that can give parents, teachers, school staff and students the tools they need to help make a safer school environment.”
Mark your calendars this forum should include much useful information to use in your school districts.??
