BE School | Women Wednesday with Anya Leonard
At BE School, on Wednesday's we highlight awesome women doing amazing things both in Mexico City and abroad. This week we took a moment with our lovely talented friend, Anya Leonard, who lives in Mexico City and is a publisher and co-founder of Classical Wisdom Weekly. We had some time to catch up and ask her our 5 Women Wednesday questions. We know you'll enjoy this one!
BE: Hey Anya! Happy New Year - if can we still say that?!
Anya: Of course! Happy New Year to you too. I'm ready for the questions.
BE: Okay, if you could change one thing in your life, what would it be?
Anya: There's isn't really anything I would change. If I had to pick something though, perhaps it would be to be more fluent in Spanish or to know more languages.
BE: Your Spanish is improving all the time, but one of our teachers can help you further. Anyway, lets talk about that another time. So, where is your favourite place to go in Mexico City and why?
Anya: That's a tricky question! I have so many. I love strolling down Calle Amsterdam, or throughout the Zocalo. I love spending time with my daughter at Parque Lincoln or Parque Mexico. I also really enjoy my neighborhood of Roma Norte and walking around Plaza Luis Cabrera.
BE: We love that stroll too. What is your definition of success?
Anya: Doing something that brings you fulfillment. Obviously you need enough money to live comfortably day to day, but after that working (either for pay or as a hobby) on something you really believe in, that you feel adds to society and has a purpose.
BE: That makes a lot of sense. We can see you find a lot of purpose with Classical Wisdom Weekly. Okay, here's a fun one. If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why?
Anya: The ability to fly!
BE: Cool! If you do ever get that super power, can you fly us to the beach?
Anya: Of course. Hand luggage only though.
BE: Final question. Why do you think it would be important to be bi-lingual in Mexico City today?
Anya: It's a wonderful gift to be bi-lingual anywhere in the world, but especially in large cosmopolitan cities - whether it is for work (and I think those advantages are pretty obvious) or for just meeting new people from different places. The more languages you have, the more you can communicate with others - and you never know what you can learn!
BE: We couldn't agree more. Thank you so much for stopping by. Shall we take that stroll?
Anya: Let's go!
