School Safety...? Volume 1 Article 4
This newsletter was primary created and focused on the primary concept of School Safety & Security. Quite frankly, I do not know how to word this article besides the truth.
2-3 weeks ago, during trial of the Weapon Detection System, it was decided that the systems "Do not live up to their full potential" and was not suited for 27j schools. (System will no longer be utilized and/or used)
I have spoken with multiple Campus Supervisors, Security Officers, and Law Enforcement Officers designated/contracted/employed to a high school within 27j schools, and I came to the unanimous conclusion that it wasn't the system but rather lack of support for the operators of such systems.
As Dr. Kenneth S. Trump states best, "The list of funded items is heavily skewed to physical security (controlled access systems, door locks, fencing, vestibules, glass film, etc.) with no mentions of funding training for hashtag#schoolleaders and their staff, for example." (https://www.dhirubhai.net/posts/kentrump_schoolsafety-schoolsecurity-humanfactors-activity-7276257212522528768-AkQ5?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop) Human factors was heavily neglected during the process of implementing these systems.

I'm not going to comment a lot on my full opinion, but I will be vague. Here are a few vague issues I've noticed.
Next week I plan on meeting with the 27j Emergency Preparedness Coordinator, and 27j Director of School Safety & Security to discuss some observations, concerns, and recommendations I have from the student (and some staff) perspective.
This newsletter is relatively short, and vague and I apologize. I wish everyone happy holidays and look forward to seeing you guys in the next newsletter!
