Last year, with the help of our partners at the Lawrenceville-Duluth Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi, we launched the Deon Lewis Legacy Scholarship program. Named in honor of the inspiring, late co-founder of H.O.P.E., Inc., these scholarships are specifically for minority, male, high school students from single-parent households, who intend to pursue a college degree after graduating.
How does this scholarship program support our mission?
For over 13 years, H.O.P.E., Inc. has been helping single parents who are enrolled in college succeed. We define their success as earning a college degree while still being able to work, be a parent, and ultimately secure a professional position where they can achieve self-sufficiency. Studies show that it takes six to fifteen generations to break the cycle of poverty in the Black community. This scholarship program, which is partially funded through H.O.P.E., Inc. donations, is a key tool in that fight. The Deon Lewis Legacy Scholarship program empowers young men to define their futures and sets them on a path toward their own success.
With each H.O.P.E., Inc. participant who graduates from our program, we witness the life-changing events that occur. What better way to help a single-parent than to support the educational dreams of their children!
Let’s inspire the next generation of young men to become all that they dream to be!
If you know a qualifying young man who could use a little help reaching his dreams, encourage him to apply for a $1,000 college scholarship through the QR code below. You can also help fund future scholarship recipients by donating to H.O.P.E., Inc. at?www.hopbe.org.
