Major: Electrical Engineering

Graduation: May 2024

As a final-year Electrical Engineering master’s student, I was eager to gain practical experience to complement the theoretical knowledge I acquired in class. When I came across the Electrical Engineering Intern position at Schindler, the job description resonated perfectly with my academic background and career aspirations. The opportunity to work with a leading company like Schindler was compelling, and I was thrilled to receive an offer.

This internship itself is primarily focused on testing and troubleshooting various electrical components. I have gained substantial hands-on experience with testing drives and different types of PCBs. My goal is to deepen my understanding of electrical systems and improve my practical skills in a real-world engineering environment.

The most valuable lessons I've learned at Schindler are the professional values and work ethic of the team. The talent and dedication of the people here are remarkable. Their willingness to go out of their way to assist others has been inspiring, and has taught me the importance of teamwork and mutual support in a professional setting. However, my favorite part about interning at Schindler has been the exposure to regulatory codes, such as the NEC, and working with certifying bodies like the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). The experience of ensuring our projects meet high standards and obtaining necessary certifications has been incredibly rewarding and educational.

After my internship, I aspire to advance my career in electrical engineering, carrying forward the values and lessons learned at Schindler. The experience here has solidified my passion for the field, and I aim to contribute to innovative projects and continue developing my skills.

What led me to intern at Schindler was the enthusiasm, values, and dedication I felt that our manager had for Schindler during the interview, which stayed with me the entire drive home.

My internship is focused on testing the upcoming products for the North American market to ensure that they comply with Schindler’s safety and quality standards. I hope to learn the systems deeply and become a system engineer. Over the course of my internship, I have learned that the little things matter. Whether it’s a 5-minute cleanup at the end of the day, or just staying an extra half hour to finish a task—attention to detail and thorough work is what leads to excellence.

Working in this beautiful land and just being a part of a team full of dedicated, hard-working engineers has been my favorite part of interning at Schindler, and after my internship I plan to actively pursue a career at Schindler.

Role: Field Procurement Intern

Currently attending: Georgia College & State University

Major: Management Information Systems & Supply Chain Management

Graduation: May 2026

I decided to choose Schindler because of their great reputation and the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in supply chain as a procurement intern.

My internship is focused on procurement and data. The main objective is streamlining the vendor master database in preparation for a significant system migration. I was also given a capstone project focused on logistics packaging where I would help make the utilization of containers and trucks more efficient. I hope to gain a great understanding on how to reduce cost in supply chain.

So far, the most valuable thing I’ve learned at Schindler is how important every single department is to the company’s success.

My favorite part about interning for Schindler so far is being exposed to the different departments and meeting many people. Everyone here has been so helpful and has given me great advice that will help me for my future. After my internship, I hope to get another one for next summer in supply chain or logistics. After graduating, I hope to start my career working as a supply chain analyst for a big company.

Graduation: May 2026

I decided to become a Schindler intern because Schindler is such a prominent company in a field that I am very interested in. I also wanted to begin to understand what a career for me might look like after I graduate.

My internship is focused on both the systems and mechanical components of the Schindler elevator process. I am focused on obtaining as much knowledge and experience as I can through work such as testing, analysis, and observing my peers. I hope to gain valuable experience in the field of engineering that I can then take into my education and future. Thus far, the most valuable thing I have learned at Schindler is what teamwork and communication look like. It has been very beneficial for me to see how all parts of the team work together, and how everyone makes sure the deadlines are met.

My favorite part about interning at Schindler so far has been meeting and interacting with so many new people here and learning from their expertise. The environment at Schindler is very welcoming, and everyone has been helpful in allowing me to learn and grow in this field.

After my internship this summer, I will still have two more years of my undergraduate degree. I hope to be able to better understand certain topics and lessons in school and how they relate to engineering fields outside of the classroom. I want to continue to build on my education and hope to continue to gain experience to prepare myself for a successful future career.

Role: Inside Sales Intern

Currently attending: University of Toledo

Major: Sales & Marketing

Graduation: December 2025

The Inside Sales internship at Schindler is unique because you get to sell directly to customers and get first-hand sales experience. I have a couple of friends who went through the internship program previously, and they went on to become full-time Schindler employees. Their high praise of the program, along with the hands-on experience opportunity, made Schindler an easy choice!

During my internship, I mainly focus on conversion sales, working alongside the local account managers and with the customers to help get continued service agreements in place. Through this, I am learning how to interact with customers, problem solve, and how to think outside the box in the sales process—especially because all of the account managers I work with are full of knowledge and sales experience they share with me. I hope to continue to develop my sales skills and grow my connections for future opportunities.

While I have learned so much, I think the biggest thing I have learned has been to think outside the box. Being surrounded by sales reps who have creative ideas on how to problem solve and get solutions has opened my eyes to the many different ways to sell.

I love all the people I have been able to meet. The opportunity to get to know customers and coworkers from all over has made my internship experience so sweet, and has grown my love for sales even more than before. After I graduate, I hope to move and have a full-time role with Schindler where I can continue to sell in the field and have more direct customer interactions.

Graduation: Fall 2025

I first heard about the Schindler Inside Sales internship from a prior intern. The more research I did, the more it began to interest me. My internship is focused on helping outside account representatives set clients up on continued service programs.

The most valuable thing I have learned is how to connect with people on different sides of the country. Understanding the different personalities of people in big cities versus rural areas, and how to still build a trusting and healthy relationship with these people, taught me a lot about communication.

My favorite part of interning at Schindler is the family-like bond I have made with my fellow interns. Over the summer, we have seen each other almost every day, and it has created lifelong bonds I will always remember.

After my internship, I would love to move to Austin, TX, and continue my career at Schindler while advancing my knowledge in business.

Role: Inside Sales Intern

Currently attending: University of Toledo

Major: Marketing & Professional Sales

Graduation: December 2024

I decided to intern at Schindler because it is a competitive internship amongst sales students at the University of Toledo. I also knew former interns who loved the job.

My internship is focused on assisting local offices in their conversion, recovery, and retention pursuits, while also growing in personal sales ability. I hope to continue to learn how to take ownership of a sales cycle, from open to close.

During the time I have spent at my internship, I’ve learned the value of accountability. Holding everyone accountable for the work done on their end will do wonders. My favorite part of interning at Schindler has been working in such close collaboration with professionals in San Francisco, Tampa, Tulsa, Philadelphia, Toledo, Detroit, and Lansing, which is why I hope to work for Schindler full-time after my internship ends.

Role: Data Quality Intern

Currently attending: Rutgers University

Major: Information Technology Informatics

Graduation: May 2026

I decided to become an intern at Schindler because I was drawn to Schindler's reputation for innovation and excellence in the elevator industry. The opportunity to work at a large company with a focus on high use of technology aligned with my academic background in Information Technology and my career aspirations. Additionally, as this is my first internship, I was excited about the chance to gain hands-on experience and learn directly from industry professionals at headquarters. I believed this opportunity would be invaluable for my professional growth.

My internship is focused on data quality. As Schindler migrates to a new system, we are reaching out to customers to confirm and verify their information and data. One thing I hope to achieve here is developing a deeper understanding of data management practices since they relate to my major. Additionally, I hope to enhance my communication skills through direct interaction with customers while contributing to Schindler's success by assisting with the transition to a new system, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of the data, which is crucial to the company's operations.

One of the most valuable lessons I have learned at Schindler so far is that “experience is the best form of learning.” Working at Schindler headquarters has provided me with an incredible opportunity to gain first-hand experience. I’ve had the chance to meet many people from various offices, and learning about their roles and what exactly they do has been fascinating and informative. However, one of my favorite things about interning at Schindler is the environment and the invaluable experience I am gaining. The atmosphere is incredibly welcoming and supportive, which makes a significant influence. Being surrounded by other interns who are of a similar age and share similar goals is both motivating and inspiring. Additionally, the experience of seeing first-hand what it’s like to work in the corporate industry has been extremely eye-opening.

After this internship, I am eager to complete my final two years of undergraduate studies at Rutgers University, majoring in Information Technology. Following graduation, I plan to pursue a master’s degree and aim to secure a job in the technology field, with a focus on data management or cyber security.

Role: Field Procurement Intern

Currently attending: University of Michigan

Major: Economics

Graduation: May 2026

When looking for an internship this summer, I knew I wanted to stay close to my home in Atlanta but also gain experience in a business-facing role. I found this procurement intern position within Schindler and realized I had an interest in supply chain. I figured this would be the perfect opportunity to learn something new and gain professional experience.

My internship is mainly focused on two things: validating vendors for the indirect purchasing team and analyzing cost-savings KPIs. The most valuable thing I have learned at Schindler is that there is always something new to learn, even when you least expect it.

My favorite part about interning at Schindler is being able to grow relationships with my co-interns and hang out with them in the office. Following my internship, I aspire to gain a role in consulting or to work as business/financial analyst.

Role: HR Intern

Currently attending: Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania

Major: Business Administration – Human Resources

Graduation: May 2025

Even though I had a few other options on the table, I decided to become an intern at Schindler the second my interview was over because it felt like the right fit for me.

The internship itself is focused on Human Resources and Compliance, which is why I hope to achieve a higher understanding of company compliance, employee relations, and HRIS.

The most valuable thing I have learned from my internship at Schindler so far is the concept of quality and the fact that it doesn’t just apply to our products but also to our work, our character, and our relationships. I took the concept of quality and adopted it into my work ethic.

Overall, I would say my favorite part of my internship at Schindler is the people. The team makes Schindler a safe and inclusive environment for everyone. After my internship comes to a close, my aspirations are to finish my last year at Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania, revamp the Society of Human Resource Management club at my university as the newly elected president, and pursue my SHRM-CP certification before I graduate.

Role: Inside Sales Intern

Currently attending: University of Toledo

Major: Finance & Sales

Graduation: May 2025

At the University of Toledo, the Schindler Inside Sales Intern position is very sought after, and I heard nothing but good things about it and decided that I would like to pursue it. Also, my brother-in-law was once an intern with Schindler and spoke very highly of it, so I figured I would interview and see where it took me!

For my internship, I work as an Inside Sales representative where we focus on developing our communication skills, client engagement skills, and time management skills. I hope to continue to sharpen my overall sales expertise in my remaining time as an intern.

In my two years as an intern with Schindler, there are a plethora of valuable things I have learned that I will take with me in whatever my next step is. However, I would say the most important thing that I have learned, through-and-through, is being personable and being able to develop my listening skills. This is something that has not only greatly improved my professional life but my personal life as well.

My favorite part about interning has been the relationships I have made. You get to meet and work with many different people, and it is something truly special. In the office specifically, I have developed lifelong friendships with my fellow interns! After the internship, I hope to get a full-time offer from Schindler in a sales role. I have really enjoyed my time with Schindler so far and learned to love the process behind a sales role, making it somewhere I would be delighted to stay if the opportunity presented itself.

I chose to intern at Schindler because of their renowned reputation in the elevator industry and their strong emphasis on customer satisfaction. The opportunity to learn first-hand about their innovative solutions for vertical transportation and to contribute to enhancing customer experiences was a compelling draw for me.

My internship at Schindler is focused on understanding customer needs and satisfaction metrics in the elevator solutions market. I am eager to learn how to effectively communicate with clients, resolve issues promptly, and optimize service delivery to exceed customer expectations. Ultimately, I aim to refine my sales and customer relationship management skills in a corporate setting. The most valuable lesson I've learned during my time at Schindler is the importance of proactive communication and empathy in maintaining strong client relationships. Understanding how to address customer concerns promptly and effectively has been instrumental in ensuring satisfaction and fostering long-term partnerships.

My favorite part about interning at Schindler has been the opportunity to connect with the "Schindler family" across different locations, from Ohio to Miami. My goal is to contribute effectively to organizational growth and success by delivering exceptional value and fostering strong client relationships.

Role: Engineering Intern

Currently attending: North Carolina State University

Major: Mechanical Engineering

Graduation: May 2027

I decided to become a Schindler Intern due the focus on sustainability and working towards making places more accessible and equitable. I found the application through an internship program called “Rural Works!” through North Carolina State University.

I opted to make the most out of my experience by doing tasks that are delegated to me from management, such as designing skirt templates for INTRUSS, assisting the project manager with the development of repair kits, developing an organized level chart of the Bill of Materials for the Anti-Fall device, and designing bottom and top pit AutoCAD drawings for the Schindler 9300 escalator series to be used in electrical here at the local Clinton plant.

The most valuable thing I have learned while interning here is the nature and timeline of large-scale corporations in the manufacturing sector. The lifecycle of an escalator goes through a very meticulous process to ensure Schindler’s main goal of quality and customer satisfaction. Also, being able to shadow meeting calls with the customer, going down to the shop floor to overview various tasks with escalator production, and shadowing my fellow engineers through custom designs has given me a new perspective on how products go from idea to reality and has truly been a blessing.

My favorite part about my internship this summer at Schindler has been how much of the business I have been exposed to, and not being confined to one specific sector. My aspirations after my internship are to utilize what I have learned to not only give me more insight as to what I learn in the classroom, but to use every experience this summer to ensure that I fall into the career path that best fits me.
