SCHILLER: PROVES RELIABILITY IN EXTREME CONDITIONS

On Saturday 13th January 2024, the Altitude Rescue Group (GERA), of the Madrid Fire Department, were called out to a complicated rescue in the most extreme of conditions; a 58-year-old hiker was in trouble after suffering a heart attack in the Siete Picos area, heart of Madrid’s Guadarrama mountain range.

In coordination with Summa 112, Red Cross, Mountain Rescue & Intervention Group, Civil Guard and Madrid Rescue Services, GERA managed to coordinate a very complicated rescue in extreme snowy conditions.

Equipped with the reliable SCHILLER DEFIGARD Touch 7, a stretcher and ropes, they undertook this rescue and the patient was transported safely to the Puerta Del Hierro hospital, where she was admitted in a serious condition. ?

Laced with boulders, clusters of jagged rocks, steep & rocky ridges, the route of Siete Picos (Seven Peaks) is one of the most famous hikes in the Sierra de Guadarrama. The route usually takes 3-4 hours and is approximately 10km, offering spectacular views.
