Unfortunately, the “health/fitness” space has a low barrier to entry. And 1 inch of ‘science’ or even a ‘suggestion of evidence’ can be regurgitated into 1 mile of bull-s#@t.
People are not hesitating to risk their integrity, reputation and advice… for $$$.
If becoming a gym junkie, cardio addict or overall fitness obsessed is not your goal…
And you’re happy living a busy life, running your company/business etc. and just want to stay fit, toned and healthy to enjoy life long-term

DETOX/CLEANSE - (wtf does that even mean?)
You should still have a liver and at least 1 kidney… They do the detoxing for us, along with support from the immune system.
If you’re really worried about toxins in your body, go get tested medically. If were a problem, you’d already know…
So good news is… Detoxing/cleansing WILL NOT make you lose body-fat.
And no… luke warm lemon with apple cider vinegar on an empty stomach won’t speed up fat loss… it could be more likely to harm your teeth from the acidity (don’t brush within 30 mins before or after).
KETOSIS - made popular by the Keto diet.
Initially used to treat people who experience epilepsy to help reduce seizures.
Here’s the definition of Ketosis:
“A metabolic state characterized by raised levels of ketone bodies in the body tissues, which is typically pathological in conditions such as diabetes, or may be the consequence of a diet that is very low in carbohydrates”...
Put simply, if there is a lack of glucose (a.k.a sugar/carbs) in your body, the liver will turn fats into ‘ketones’ which are then used as fuel, instead of glucose.
That does not guarantee weight-loss… because you’re eating a surplus of food, the body can produce ketones all day but will be storing more body-fat that it is using to produce ketones.
Every client of mine who has tried before couldn’t maintain it… and won’t do it again.
Good news is… You don’t have to do to keto to drop body-fat :)
FASTING?(‘slowing’ doesn’t exist).
Fasting can be an effective ‘structure’ for people to drop weight/body-fat…
But its NOT the ‘fasting’ that does any magic…
Like skipping breakfast, or dinner… your body doesn’t know what it is. You don’t get extra points or burn extra fat by removing a time that you could eat a meal or snack.
Where it does work well, is the mental benefit. Meaning, if you know you cannot eat breakfast… then you’ll find it easier to wait till lunch (for example) and it is difficult to eat a lot of food in a shorter amount of time…
Making it easier to ‘not’ overeat… and therefore drop body-fat by not having a surplus of calories/food in your body.
Fasting isn’t a diet… it’s more like going from a 5 to 4 day work week, less work = more free time…
Less food = more opportunity to burn body-fat.

MUSCLE MEMORY - There’s a brain in your muscle?
Your muscle does not have a memory… if you had 2 kg of muscle and now you have 1 kg… that 1 kg, does not remember the other 1kg.
Muscle memory refers to your prior experience of doing a certain activity. For example…
Person A: Never done weight training...
Person B: Did weight training 15 years ago but done nothing since...
Based on that example, person B is more likely to see progress ‘marginally’ faster ONLY because person b has some ‘motor’ memory of doing particular movements.
Like someone who played guitar as a kid… stopped, an picked it up 20 years later… they will learn faster than a newbie, only because. There is still some ‘memory’ in the brain of the movement patterns, which speeds up the time-frame to relearn something.
Muscle takes time to grow… the only way to speed it up is to train like an athlete and or simultaneously take a form of steroids to artificially speed up the bodies recovery processes.
So no, your muscle won’t just magically re-appear like remembering an old friend from primary school... but your chances of gaining it back muscle later in life is more than someone who never did prior.
And… not to forget that, the more we age, slowly, it becomes easier to lose muscle and not gain it back.
Good news is…. Having more muscle increases your BMR (the calories you burn just by being awake) … so more muscle = great for fat-loss and maintenance long term :)
SHOCK THE BODY….
If you want to shock your body, go watch a Horror movie or stick your fork into a toaster… (kidding please don’t do that, not health advice).
Start a complete new diet will feel like a shock… because you’re not adapted to it… but that doesn’t mean you will lose body-fat…
If you were not exercising at all… and you start exercising again, thats already a shock… your body has gone from a idle state to all of sudden under pressure, strain and causing micro tears in your muscle fibres.
Shocking along won’t cause weight-loss…
Less shocking… more consistency. Please.
GLUTEN!!!!
I have coeliac disease, seriously. So I avoid gluten because it causes cramps, inflammation and can lead to other auto-immune diseases such as arthritis or Hashimoto's thyroid itis.
And not, gluten does not make you ‘fat’ or stop you from losing body-fat.
It CAN make SOME people feel bloated. But so can drinking 1 L of water.
If you eat too much, your stomach gets packed with food… wtf do you expect?
I share this because I was one baffled by so much conflicting information… and for years I made no progress… I started to believe it was just ‘how I was born’... eventually I saw the light and figured stuff out with a bunch of help from real professionals…
At the end of the day, whatever you chose to do is up to you… All i offer is the truth.
I could go on… but, what would be cool is, if you shared a buzzword or something you're unsure of or a gimmicky thing below…
