The Scary Way AEC Teams Show Up Every Day

The Scary Way AEC Teams Show Up Every Day

Construction workers are clearing a 25-acre parcel of land near our home.

I drive by every day, wondering what the crew is building.??

I saw a few workers outside the fencing near the curb this week.

Curiosity got the best of me, so I pulled over to ask them what was coming.

Their responses left me floored.

"I don't know. We're clearing the brush and moving the soil so the land is ready."

????Ready for what??? was the burning question I didn't utter.

One worker said they'd go to another job site once they prepped the ground.

He pointed to a pick-up truck and suggested I talk with the foreman in charge.??

I began thinking about you.

??Do you and your team have the big picture and a 30,000-foot view of your goals?

??Does every individual know how their daily tasks contribute to your desired outcome?

Staff with this intel feel valued so firms reduce turnover.??

The men I talked with won't be building or designing the structures. I get that.

This quick interaction points to in countless A/E/C firms.

I spoke on a webinar recently to emerging leaders in commercial real estate.

In a pre-event anonymous survey, 95 percent admitted they don't know the big picture.

They perform their tasks with significant confusion about their roles and expectations.

??All roads lead back to communication.

Reach out if your team wants better strategies for effective leadership and profitability.

PS: I can't leave you hanging. Here's the clincher. There was an article in the local newspaper the next day about the "mystery lot." New homes are being built. Now, we can sleep easier at night. ??
