Scary But Good ??

Scary But Good ??

Hope you’ve all had a fantastic week! ??

Last Saturday, I did something that felt like a bit of a push outside my comfort zone. ??

I went to a women’s coffee meet-up I found through a local Facebook group in Mumbles.

I’ve been wanting to do this for ages. After living here for four years, I still don’t know that many people!! ??

The timing couldn’t have been better. – other than dog walking I wasn’t doing anything else —so I really had no excuses!

Even though I’m the kind of person who’s happy to talk to anyone I found myself feeling a bit nervous before going. ??

Who or how many would be there? Would they be my kind of people?

When I arrived, the room was absolutely packed! There must have been about 50 women there and the noise was at nightclub-level volume.

It was a bit overwhelming at first, but everyone was lovely, and once I settled in, I felt completely at ease—apart from all the shouting to be heard, of course! ??

There’s a famous quote, “All success is outside of your comfort zone.”

In fact there are loads of comfort zone quotes… 77 of them here!

It’s so true though!

It would’ve been so easy to stay at home and avoid the potential discomfort, but pushing through that resistance is often where the real magic happens. ?

There are so many areas in our businesses where we can choose to step out of our comfort zones and really stretch ourselves, for example:

  • Raising your prices?
  • Going live on LinkedIn.
  • Asking for an introduction to someone new within your network.
  • Sending a cold email or LinkedIn message
  • Saying no to a project that pays well but doesn’t feel right
  • Investing an uncomfortable amount of money into your business
  • Putting yourself forward for a speaking gig
  • Attending a networking event where you don’t know anyone

I’m sure you can add your own!

The truth is our comfort zones keep us feeling safe and secure, but they also hold us back from growth and new opportunities.

Taking action that feels a little bit scary – and surviving – builds our resilience and confidence too. I felt so proud of myself that I’d done it and it will be so much easier next time. ??

So, if there’s something you’ve been avoiding because it feels a bit daunting, maybe this is the nudge you need to give it a go!

What’s one thing you could do this week to step out of your comfort zone??

?Reply back and let me know.

?I’d love to hear from you.?

?Love from Sharon x ??

Absolutely Sharon Gaskin??. We can truly learn and grow when we step out of our comfort zone—well done! I'm not sure what mine is for this week yet. It may well be reaching out to more people on Linkedin and starting a few conversations.

Totally agree. - we ALL procrastinate from time to time. Action however small always seems to promote a positive feeling of progress and new learning.
