Scarily good Halloween marketing campaigns ??
No Brainer - Search-driven Content Agency | B Corp
Proudly working with some of the biggest and brightest UK brands to: Be Found, Be Famous, and Be First on Search.
'Tis the season to get spooky - and this includes your marketing campaigns ??
We've pulled together our favourite Halloween ads, from creepy clowns to tomato blood and dancing skeletons, these brands have nailed spooky season.
1. Heinz - Tomato Blood
Heinz is no stranger to creating quirky ad campaigns, and no Halloween costume is complete without a bit of blood - put them both together and you've got the recipe for a fantastic campaign ????
This landed them in some top marketing titles including Marketing Dive and The Drum, as well as food related outlets, Mashed and Food and Wine.
And that's not all, Heinz brought back its infamous 'Black Garlic Mayo' flavour this year. It witnessed fan-gs rushing to their local supermarket to get their hands on it before it was too late!
It racked up more than 5.1 billion views for #heinzhalloween and more than 2.4 million views on TikTok for #blackgarlicmayo - an absolute marketing success!
Let's not forget the scary faces they shared within their tomatoes, bringing the screams to Halloween ??
2. Burger King - The Call
Levelling up their ghoulish activity, Burger King has released a short video for their BK Ghost Pepper Whopper. Taking inspiration from the classic horror film, The Ring, it's spine-tinglingly good ??
Following the release of the ad, searches for the Ghost Pepper Whopper on Google increased by more than 50%.
Now, Burger King in France has taken a very different route for its Halloween advertising, using AI to create its visual aspects.
With AI becoming a staple in a marketers tool kit, this is a clever way of working with the emerging technology. However, we must say, this one is super creepy!
We absolutely love this Halloween campaign from a few years ago - 'Come as a clown, eat like a King'. In this cheeky set of ads, Burger King is said to be poking fun at McDonald's clown, Ronald McDonald, bringing out its creepy nature ??
This Halloween campaign racked up the coverage, with features in business titles such as Business Insider and Business Wire, regional, national and worldwide titles, including New York Post, Washington Post and The Today Show, and marketing outlets, The Drum, Ad Week and Prolific North.
And the accompanying short video, along with the posters, is truly terrifying!
3. McDonald's - Spooky Scran
The Golden Arches have done it once again with this spooky ad, we've never seen scary scran look so tasty! ??
It was so creepily good, this campaign was even featured in online horror spots, including Dread Central.
However, they have a lot of making up to do around this time of year following their unfavourable Halloween campaign last year, with the tag line #TrickorEat, it was attacked online for its poor timing in the middle of a cost-of-living crisis.
4. Reese's - Dancing Skeletons
Reese's and their Halloween skeletons have jumped on the hype this year, bringing some feel good vibes to this spooky season ??
The video posted four weeks ago on YouTube boasts 31 million views, 12,000 likes and 1,403 comments - a resounding achievement!
5. Bacardi - Raising Spirits
The world-renowned spirits company has had some fun with its already Halloween-y name in their recently released set of short video clips ??
The pair of videos on YouTube have received a total 3,200 views and Google searches have increased for the brand term, 'Bacardi' by 4% in the last month, and 14% in the last week.
6. Meta - Halloween Thrillboards
Meta’s Reality Labs has revealed its unique set of immersive billboards just in time for spooky season. The disruptive, 3D marketing experiences break down the barriers between the traditional 2D poster and blurs the lines of reality.
This is to mark the launch of Meta Quest 3, giving passersby the opportunity to literally step into the world of the games, including The Walking Dead and Ghostbusters.
It is without a doubt one of the most talked about interactive outdoor displays in the UK, with coverage in LadBible, Campaign Live, and Ads of the World.
The Meta Quest 3 ‘Thrillboards’ had a primate location in Protein Studios, London during the last weekend of October.
7. IKEA - Monster Furniture
When it comes to Halloween advertising, IKEA have it spot on. With such a subtle nod to the spooky season, the beauty is in the photographs with the expertly placed furniture.
Their recent campaign doesn't come with monsters included and we absolutely love it! ??
Securing spots on the some of the best marketing titles, including The Drum and Ad Week, they're a force (and ghouls) to be reckoned with.
