The scariest thing for foreigners in Germany: making a phone call in German

Sometimes you can use Google translate and it will get you through writing an e-mail, although a phone call would be faster.

Other times, you can ask a friend to make a phone call on your behalf, so you won’t have to write and plan what and how you will say something.

But, believe me, there will be times when you will have to do it yourself. No Google, no friends, just you, a phone, and a German native speaker on the other side of a phone line.

And you will not be ready.

Many foreigners experience the dread of a phone call when they are not confident in their German. So, this is the first good news, you are not alone.

The second good news is that the dread is completely understandable. On the phone, you don’t see someone’s facial expressions, you can’t use your hands to explain or point at something, you depend on your talk.

And the third and the best news is – this is completely fixable. In my classes, you will practice this kind of situation – a real-life scenario of making an appointment, asking for information, scheduling a job interview… and others you might need.

My students say this is the part of the program that directly prepares them for the real world. So make a decision and get ready for the real world. Apply for a free qualification call on my website: www.ivanvotipka.com.
