Scared to leave your current role?
Are you sitting on the sidelines of the job market? Are you desperate to leave your job? Or are you ready for the next level in your career but wondering if it’s even possible in the current job market?
Maybe you’ve had a taste of what job searching is like right now and think a new role is just not possible for you. Or you’ve been sitting on LinkedIn for months, watching others struggle. You’re seeing so many “open to work” graphics that you’re convinced it’s better to stay put and suck up whatever might be bothering you.
We want to help you to stop worrying - you can take back control of your career.
The truth is, there’s no better time to look for a new job than when you already have one. When you’re employed it takes away the worry of meeting your living costs, it gives you time and it allows you to consider your choices. You can walk into any potential interview with the confidence of knowing you don’t “need” the role but instead can take your sweet time to hone your offer and see what's available to you.
So, if you’ve got the itch, if you’re feeling like there’s something better out there for you, we encourage you to put the feelers out, and start putting your best self forward!
The key to making it possible is getting smart with your search; make sure you’re using your tools in the right way (resume/CV, LinkedIn cover letters), and be ready to get creative with your process – consider things like leveraging contacts through LinkedIn or wider networking.
Feeling scared to leave a comfortable job is completely normal for most job-seeking professionals. But if you’re feeling the added pressure of a challenging job market then it’s no wonder you might feel stuck.
The fear of the unknown, the loss of a steady paycheck, and the potential for failure can all contribute to this anxiety. However, staying in a job longer than you want to can lead to a feeling of resentment, loss of confidence and even experiencing toxic situations in the workplace.
We don’t want any of you to feel like you don’t have a choice in your career, we’re here to help you drop the fear and instead regain confidence in your ability to walk into the new opportunities you deserve.
Here are a few points that might help your decision-making process and help get you moving.
Step 1: Understand your fear of moving
The first step in overcoming your fear is understanding it.
? Are you afraid of financial instability?
? Are you worried about not finding a job that you love as much?
? Is it the state of the job market?
? Or are you simply afraid of change?
Once you understand your fear, you can begin to address it. Is it rational? What can you do to support yourself through whatever comes up?

Step 2: Evaluate your current job
Take a moment to evaluate your current job.
? What aspects do you enjoy?
? What parts do you dislike?
? Is there potential for growth where you are?
Understanding what you want from your career can help you find a job or organization that better aligns with your goals and values. You can even look for specific keywords in the job description that matches what you might be looking for.
Boost your search: You could use our JobMatchAI tool as part of The Hub membership to see how you match against jobs you’re interested in.
How do you match? Can you boost your compatibility with further skills or experience?
Step 3: Research
It’s always good to do your research with any job role or organization before making decisions. It will enhance your decision-making and also give you great intel for any potential job interview.
? Look into the industry or job you’re interested in.
? Talk to people who work in that field.
This can give you a better understanding of what to expect and can help alleviate some of your fears.

Step 5: Get your tools job search ready
With the current systems of automation in the hiring process, if you don’t have your resume/CV ATS (applicant tracking system) checked, optimized, and matched to the jobs you want, it’s unlikely that your application will make it through to the hiring manager’s desk.
Therefore, we highly recommend that you:
? Get your resume/CV ATS checked and optimized. Our Resume Readability can do this for you.
? Match your resume/CV to the jobs you’re applying for with relevant keywords. Our JobMatchAI tool can do this for you
? Create cover letters and follow-up emails that also use keywords. Our Job Tracker can do this for you.
Boost your search: It can be useful to create a strategy for your search, including all aspects of your search – your tools, methods of application, the time you have available when you’ll work on your search, and whether you will use more direct approaches like networking.
Step 6: Take the leap
Finally, once you’ve reviewed your options, done the prep, and found the right opportunity, it’s time to leap! Remember, it’s normal to feel scared, but use your situation to your advantage, get prepared, and take the time you need to get the job you want and deserve. It’s a marathon, not a sprint!

What our members say:
"The Hub has been the best money I've ever spent.
It's the first platform that has actually truly helped me sort out my CV to get a response to job applications.
The job match AI tool is brilliant because it takes ALL the stress out of writing cover letters for every application. The suggestions I got to improve my CV I feel were a game changer in helping me secure a place on the recruiter's desk.
But the real gem is the personal help you get and the dedication of all the staff who truly want to give you every tool to help you get a job. I used the community chat to ask questions and got a super quick response.
I used the resources that gave me amazing questions to ask in an interview and also just good advice on how to structure my interview. I got a job offer within 4 weeks.
I'm so grateful to everyone at The Hub, without you all I would sunk into a very dark place, you arrived in my life just in time ;)"

5 个月For the majority of people I'd really not recommend leaving a job until they have something else lined up. The only exception here would be if the current job is really affecting your mental health, you're being bullied etc. You're also in a much stronger negotiating position when you're employed when negotiating a new offer.
Thank you. However, I have never been invited to an interview for the jobs I have applied for on LinkedIn. People think that most of the jobs on LinkedIn are fake jobs. Then, it is the issue of racism and discrimination. How do I handle these issues?
