"Be scared and do it."?

"Be scared and do it."

This is the line many of the folks I teach and coach have heard from me over the years about presenting: "Be scared, and do it." Nervousness is real. Being scared is real. Work with them. And do the presentation. Do it, scared.

So, I thought it was time for me to do something that scared me. Sure, I get nervous before presenting. And learning platforms aplenty during Covid 19 Zoom, Webex, Adobe Connect, Kaltura made me uncomfortable to be sure. Pivoting to online-versus in-person as a business model, now we talkin' scary. But I realized that I had not intentionally put myself into a scary spot for a while. How can I continue to teach and coach presenters without knowing what their experience is like?

So I did the CNTower EdgeWalk. It is the world’s highest full circle hands-free walk on a 1.5 m (5 ft) wide ledge encircling the top of the Tower’s main pod, 356m/1,168ft (116 storeys) above the ground. And I was scared. Even have video to see myself scared, manage myself, rise to the occasion/opportunity....and to see myself do it. I did the EdgeWalk scared and I loved it.

Be scared, and do it. Whatever "it" may be.

Well done! Great message for others ??
