Inevitable #1: AI will happen. It is impossible to stop it.
Inevitable #2: The machines will outsmart us. They are expected to develop IQ, billions of times higher than the human. Einstein's IQ (calculated at 160) was about only 2 times higher than "below normal". They will probably develop emotional intelligence, as well.
Inevitable #3: Mistakes will happen.?Out-of-hand events cannot be avoided.
This is how Mo Gawdat predicts the relatively near future with regards to the development of AI powered by quantum computing, in his book “Scary Smart”, which I finished a couple of weeks ago.
The narrative is divided into two parts: “The Scary Part”, where various abrupt and dark future eventualities are stressed, and “Our Path to Utopia”, which focuses on the bright alternative and how the the best of human qualities could, and should be leveraged to steer and utilize AI development for good, so that a viable utopia might be created.
Mo Gawdat is an iconic figure in technology and AI, having led organizations fully devoted to innovations, such as Google [X], and he has conducted numerous researches at the forefront of the technological development.? His and other AI specialists' outcry about the looming hazards of unregulated development of AI is of utmost importance, not only for professionals directly affected by AI but for humanity as a whole.

As members of the global society, we are accountable for making ourselves and others aware of the big picture around AI, and act to positively influence our common future to the right direction, powered by values, ethics, and a globally collective view.
PS: I asked GPT-4 (DALL-E 3) to illustrate a looming disaster in a surrealistic, utopian, Salvador Dali style and among other spectacular illustrations I got this incredible picture, accompanied by the following description:
“Illustration in a style characterized by vivid colors, dreamlike landscapes, and melting forms associated with early 20th-century surrealism. A picturesque cityscape with elongated, bending buildings sits under a sky filled with floating clocks. A distorted tsunami wave, looking almost like a curtain, threatens to engulf the city.”
