WHAT IF WE KNEW WHAT CAME NEXT?
Introduction:
Imagine holding the future of the built environment in your line of sight, being able to see and share the trends of tomorrow. Imagine 20 years from now… How could we be designing and building, shaping and making, in ways that completely change the game? Imagine ‘what if’ was not just a hypothetical, but a forecast…
To achieve this feat, we have to ask bigger questions. So, if we gave the future of the industry a voice, what would it say? SCAPE has rounded up four brilliant minds to consider how their jobs might look in the future, and how the industry might transform in the coming decades. Letting go of the now, we’re asking our esteemed panel: What comes next?
Introduction to Speaker 1: Stefan Antoni
As the Director of SAOTA, Stefan Antoni is renowned for his prolific career designing world-class residential architecture, not only in South Africa’s most luxurious locations, but also across the United States, Switzerland, the Middle East, and beyond. Contemplating revolutionary advancements that continue to transform the industry, Stefan considers whether the technological revolution poses a risk of eliminating architects, and if so, what does it mean for our natural connection to earth?

Introduction to Speaker 2: David Cohen
As an expert in his profession, David Cohen brings a highly experienced perspective on the future of the development of properties. David represents one of South Africa’s leading property development firms – Signatura – as their Managing Director. His involvement in some of the most iconic urban and suburban residential builds in the country make him a voice to be heard on the future of the industry. David will be exploring the idea that when we’re making changes, we shouldn’t just think ‘innovation’, we should think ‘revolution’.
Introduction to Speakers 3 & 4: André Krige and Theo Kruger
Known for their exciting, inspired designs and expertise in creating vibrant spaces that bring passersby to a halt, André Krige and Theo Kruger are a dynamic duo who share the titles of co-founder and -director of TwoFiveFive Architects – a firm which sets the standards of tomorrow. Imagining design from the garden to the city, André and Theo aim to inspire curiosity and instigate change with their work. They’ll be investigating how, with the massive influx of people to our city’s, do we anticipate densification and city life will look in the future?
