ScanMe2Health - A Guiding Technology Whenever You Question Your Health Condition
Where did my inspiration come from?
Are you familiar with waking up with pain in your spine or joints?
Or when, during the day, your head suddenly feels like it’s going to explode, your stomach is in pain, or you just feel like you’re going to be sick, having no idea why?
I remember when my grandmother had knee issues. She couldn’t walk properly, was in pain for days, and had to visit various physicians to be diagnosed with complete cartilage damage at the end. Firstly, she ignored the pain and actively refused to see a doctor since she didn’t have the temper and time to go through all those scheduling and wait-for-the-appointment procedures. After many months, it escalated to a severe knee condition and resulted in having risky surgery because of her age and already unstable health situation.?
I also remember the 6 months of agony I went through with my toe after an accidental injury. I was told it would pass with time and that there was nothing wrong with it even though I felt unstoppable pain. At that moment I thought If I could just do a quick scan of my foot by myself and at once figure out the source of the pain... Well, that would make things easier.
It ended with the doctor forbidding me from engaging in any physical activity except walking, to prevent full tendon splitting, and was sent to expensive and time-consuming physical therapies. It hurt, and I didn’t know what was causing the pain. If I had been in a situation where I could do all the check-ups immediately after the injury and at once, the problem would have been handled in time.
I assume you have at least one of these stories in your memory. So, you get the picture, right?
How much do we do vs. how little we understand
We tend to divide ourselves into parts - our physical form, which we see as our body, and ourselves, which is the sense of us inside of our bodies. We tend to forget that our body is not something we own; our body is us. Everything we feel, our body feels. And everything our body feels is communicated through numerous signals our mind can detect and read.
It’s a constant exchange of information within ourselves. A bit crazy, huh? ??
Even crazier are the achievements scientists have made in understanding, explaining, and foreseeing processes and changes happening in our bodies.
But let’s talk about extraordinary human nature some other time.?
Right now, we have an invention to make! ??
Healthcare and medicine in general, are already doing great with the benefits of various scanners such as Ultrasound, MRI, X-rays, and CT scans that give amazing results in diagnoses. It’s great how technology can help in discovering and preventing different healthcare situations - as if we can foresee the future.?
However, each type of scanning system has its own set of benefits on one side and limitations and potential risks on the other. First of all, each technology gives different information, and often two or more need to be used together to make precise diagnoses. Secondly, some scanners may expose patients to some level of ionizing radiation, which can cause health problems in the future. There needs to be a serious reason to be sent for a scanner and even then, some patients may wait a year to get a scanner appointment. Last but not least, these devices are practically unbuyable, unless you’re a healthcare institution, and even then, they are extremely expensive.
So, I wonder, wouldn’t it be great if we could skip that scared-me-to-death phase whenever we feel something’s wrong with us, and have that luxury to check within ourselves from the comfort of our homes?
A Guiding Technology Whenever You Question Your Health Condition - is it some kind of a joke? Nope, but it is a dream ??
Let’s imagine having a little handle called ScanMe2Health, which can perform contactless scanning of our body based on the region we feel uncomfortable with using all ever-known technologies that give highly precise results. (dreamy music starts in the background)
Using integrated parameters and a bunch of trained algorithms, it could detect and determine our body signals and give information about our health condition. In addition to temperature and blood pressure measurements and other basic information that smartwatches can already present, it would be amazing to have a device that could detect inflammation, determine its phase, identify whether it’s bacterial or viral, do blood/urine/hormone analysis, and even assess any fractures and their severity.
The device could track a person's location and movement, and be prepared to list the closest/most preferred institutions or top-rated private clinics and pharmacies nearby. And more importantly, it could predict crucial numbers for urgent situations.?
ScanMe2Health could be easily carried around and quickly charged.?
You turn it on, you point it at a chosen body part, you click on a ScanMe2 button, it counts 10 seconds or less, aaand ?? Tadaa! The results pop out on its screen. (dreamy music stops)
This sounds so silly, even to its inventor.?
Keep in mind - I do not see it as a doctor-in-hand kind of thing, but it could definitely help determine whether there’s a reason to go to one or not.?
Not convinced yet?
I will give you not one, not two, but eight reasons why it’s worth investing in it. ???
Interested in joining the ScanMe2? team already? ??
Another level would be detecting emotional states, but, let’s be honest..even ScanMe2health sounds challenging healthcare solution.
?Have an additional idea of how ScanMe2Health could contribute to healthcare?
Leave it in the comments below, and I will update this article by adding it to the list.
P.S.
Please don’t judge me. Even though I may have a complete ScanMe2Health list of features and functionalities - I’m not a programmer, I have no idea how much this device would cost, and I hardly understand how investments work.?
But I’m a dreamer who believes in the potential of technology, its ability to be used for good, and the wisdom of scientists. I see the power of combining both to help society live better and healthier lives.
Prevention is all. Stay safe.
