C-Pen Reader Pen - Scan Hint 1:

C-Pen Reading Pen: Usage No 1 (of 5) - with 4 to follow

Scanning text from printed media:

One of the five uses of the C-Pen Reader Pens is to act as a hand held portable scanner.

I have some 'borrowed' some literature from a Neighbourhood watch newsletter, local in our area in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne.

Note: Make sure that the C-Pen is charged before attempting to scan text. Otherwise when it is connected it will go straight into Charging mode. There are no batteries required for the pen. It will stay charged for many hours.

To Scan Into A Computer (Mac OS, MS Windows or Chromebook desktop, Notebook, AirBook, Tablet or laptop)

I. I will connect the C-Pen Reader Pen to the MAC computer.

2. I'll turn on the C-Pen Reader Pen.

3. I will start scanning in typed text, one line at a time.

Here goes:

LOGON : Adding wood to make the camp fire hotter

LOG OFF : Not adding any more wood to the camp fire.

MONITOR : Keeping an eye on the fire.

DOWNLOAD : Getting the firewood off the Ute.

KEYBOARD : Where you keep the Ute keys.

WINDOWS : What you shut when the weather's cold.

SCREEN : What you shut in the mozzie season.

BYTE: What Mozzies do.

MEGABYTE : What Townsville Mozzies do.

CHIP : A pub snack.

MICROCHIP : What's left in the bag after you've eaten all of the chips.

MODEM : What you did to the lawns.

LAPTOP : Where the cat sleeps.

MOUSE : The small rodent that eats the grain in the shed.

MAINFRAME : What holds the shed up.

In Summary

The C-PEN Reader Pen will scan the text in as typed. Text can range from 6 point up to 22 point in height (founts can be wider or thinner (anorexic fonts are often hard to red for some people). Simply connect the C-Pen Reader Pen to the computer and program or in this case, LinkedIn web page) and scan from left to write of rom right to left and the text "floods" in to the page. The current model offers English, French and Spanish but by late July more languages will be forthcoming - so stay tuned to the Scanning Pen website! Check out: https://www.scanningpens.com.au/about_us.html.

Once scanned, users can read it back using nifty Apps such as ClaroSpeak or ClaroRead Plus on their preferred computer, iOS or Android device. Text can be cut and pasted and documents created in MS Word, Google Docs or Apache Open Office Org Writer.

Users can confidently and independently check grammatical errors or add to the text using word prediction using Ghotit Real Writer and Reader V9.

The C-Pen scanning option is so fantastic for users with reading difficulties or users of any age with dysgraphia - a condition whereby the child or adult finds writing difficult, painful or even impossible. Keyboarding may help but fatigue can be a large factor in slow progress or no progress at allude to frustration and pain.

People with debilitating or deteriorating conditions an also use the C-Pen. They can place a see-through plastic ruler under the text to be scanned and they can 'capture' the text as if it had been typed.

Struggling readers who are embarrassed by not being able to read text and can discretely scan the text then capture the required passages from magazines, journals, newspapers, study guides, user manuals etc and then have it read back by using web browser plugs that offer text-to-speech options or free programs such as ATBar, Natural Voice, SpeakComputer or ReadPlease 2003. Users on a MAC are spoiled with the built-in TTS option. Windows not has more advanced TTS options too.

So there it is. Very easy to learn, use and master and this revolutionary The C-Pen Reader saves time typing small or even large amounts of text. I considered that readers on the LinkedIn international site might enjoy a little taste of some Aussie humour, compliments of the C-Pen Reader Pen scanning mode - made possible by a Pommie Pen!
