[Scan to BIM Modeling -Case Study ]for Commercial Building
Virtual Building Studio Inc
Helping Architecture Firms Scale with On-Demand, US-Trained Architects (Level I, II & III)
Brief Overview
Our team successfully undertook a project for an automotive, commercial building in Norwood, Massachusetts, delivering precise LOD 200 Scan to BIM modeling services. Our services encompassed Architecture, Structure, Mechanical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Electrical, and Telecom disciplines.
Challenges/Requirements
Technical challenges during the uploading and downloading point cloud data resulted in an 8-day project delay.
Modeling all MEP elements within the proposed hours and the turnaround time was a significant challenge due to the extensive project area. Basements, roofs, pumprooms, and garages presented concentrated service requirements.
The large building area led to long corridors and room spaces, resulting in extended pipe and duct runs. Accurately matching these elements within the required tolerance necessitated splitting elements in multiple instances.
Deliverables
We created a detailed BIM model incorporating Architecture, Structure, Mechanical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Electrical, and Telecom disciplines.
Our model accurately depicted the MEPF elements within a 1" tolerance, ensuring precision and alignment with the reference point cloud data.
