#Scamolidays

I made up a word. I'm defining #Scamolidays as that time period starting with Black Friday through New Years. This is the time of year that fraudsters put in overtime to scam our accounts payable and vendor teams since they know it's both the holidays and, for most, year-end.

To help the teams combat, I created a dedicated #Scamolidays page to provide podcast episodes, videos and training sessions focused on one type of scam per week, for four weeks:

  • 1st Week: Shipping Scams - Find out what USPS won't do when texting you about shipping, that fraudsters always do in the podcast episode "2 Tips to Avoid the "Turkeys" in Shipping Scams". What's a Brushing Scam? Find out in the video "Co-Worker Secret Santa? Beware of Brushing Scams". Also check out a collection of fake UPS emails. The training session on Frauds and New Scam Alerts also includes ways to combat gift card scams.
  • 2nd Week: Check Payment Scams - Positive Pay is good - but you also have to have the right positive pay. Find out what you can combine it with to make it better in the podcast episode "Positive Pay + This Step to Mitigate Check Fraud". You can also protect checks from internal fraudsters before they go out of the door - check out this video "Protect Your B2B Checks from Internal Fraudsters". The training session that week focused on how to implement secure print and desktop audits to create a culture of vendor sensitive data with your team members.
  • 3rd Week: Phishing/Vishing/Smishing/Quishing Scams - On Thursday, December 7th the podcast episode "The Most Effective 'ishing Scams in Your Inbox" was published and discovering the phishing scam that prevents you from evading phishing will be available on Tuesday, December 12th. On Thursday, December 14th the training session will be on Frauds and New Scam Alerts which will focus on the 'ishing scams.
  • 4th Week: ACH/Wire Scams - Thursday, December 14th the podcast episode will breakdown the 4 money transfer codes and how to validate. Then on Tuesday, December 19th the quick video will look at using signature software to verify vendor bank changes. Is it secure or does it open you up to more scams?

Check out the #Scamolidays page to get access to all.
