SCAMMERS ARE NOW ON LINKEDIN

FULL GIST: My Encounter With A LinkedIn Scammer Who Has Swindled A Bunch Of Gullible Nigerians Of Over #500,000...Image Proof Inside.

I will also reveal the simple online research that helped me escape the trap.

So on Tuesday (28th January, 2020) evening, at exactly 8:18 PM, I received a "hello" message from one Ebere Osueke, a pseudo linkedin account - I guess.

Been the first time we will be exchanging inmail - LinkedIn term for inbox messaging, I quickly clicked on her image to scan through the profile but alas it was empty.

I don't mean outrightly empty but any active LinkedIn user would know what a proper/genuine page should look like.

Notwithstanding, I replied with "hi" and the conversation continues.

She introduced herself as Mrs Ebere and asked if I had a little idea of olymp trade.

To cut the story short, she requested we converse on Whatsapp which I obliged.

The time I sent her my line was 6:69 AM Wednesday morning. In less than 2 mins, she had added me up and started to sell to me the olymp trade whatever.

I was beginning to suspect the curiosity, it was early in the morning, she was just pushing too hard. I knew there is something more but I kept playing along.

I already knew about Olymp Trade that it is an international online trading platform that offers trading on currency pairs, cryptocurrency, stocks, indices, and commodities.

Then I asked how a novice like me can trade forex without loosing money? "Me wey dey fear forex, e don do me wayo ehn"

See below for her response in quote;

"You have nothing to worry about, the trading is done by us all you have to do is to make your deposit to our provided account and wait for 3 hours for we to trade with your deposit that's all okay"

I let out a soft smile and asked myself, how can a stock broker trade for me? I am aware that they may designate a financial advisor or whatever but not trade on my behalf.

I needed to get hold of her hence I requested for proofs,

She sent me some screenshots and the big amount pumping into my eyes shoke my hands dancing to the fear in my heart. The gullible ones had fallen into her trap.

Loosing such amount without nothing in return can be heartbreaking.

I was carefully scanning through the images with my two eyes wide open one after the other and I got the below information;

1. She usually request that her victims to fill a form right there on Whatsapp. Hence, I saw their names, phone numbers, amount deposited and other information.

2. I saw the different bank account information she gave out for payment. Here is one of it; account name: Isere Goodness... account number: 0243564884...bank: wema bank.

Then I was convinced that if truly she worked with olymp trade, the payment should be made directly into the company's account information directly not the other way round.

I typed one of the phone numbers and dialed, it was noisy at the other end, so I sent a message.

The lady by name Tope replied and she advised in her words, "they are not good at all, very fake please"

Chai! Tope has been scammed.

As if that was not enough,

I went ahead to download her profile picture on LinkedIn (see images below), entered (images dot google dot com) in my chrome browser and uploaded the image.

Alas, I discovered that the innocent woman whose image is been used to breed this evil act is by name Ms Ibiyemi Odusi. She is a Rwand Air manager here in Nigeria, thanks to a Nigerian news website.

So that was the moment I was totally convinced that the woman (maybe man) I was chatting with is not authentic.

I made known to her my discovery and she blocked instantly me on both platform (WhatsApp and LinkedIn).

Lessons;

1. Before jumping at any investment opportunity introduced by a strange person, make sure you verified thoroughly. I intentionally requested that she send me proofs and it helped my research.

2. I am not sure there is presently any genuine investment that will guarantee you 85% profit in less than three hours. Don't be greedy. Use your brain.

3. Do not be lazy. Invest in business you can maintain yourself. The problem with many is, they want a "set and forget" business. There is an inner joy in stressing over your business. Get up to work.

4. Guard your money with thine heart and brain. Don't go broke loosing your hard earned money to scammers. It doesn't worth it.

I hope this helps someone?

I shared this encounter to help someone.

Help your friends and family too by also sharing this post so they don't fall victim.

Till I come across your way again,

I remain the #ecomtwin
