Scammers and Identity Management
I trust people and I believe in people and I love progress and I hate scammers. I have to write about an idea. Maybe I run into an open door but the problem exists and I haven’t heard about any solution.
When working with marketing via social media I put a lot of time to verify the identity for contacts.
My brain is actually acting as an Identity Management Software. First I try to verify that the person is real and then I have to verify that the person have the right to represent the organization he says he belong to.
My problem is that I try to use social media as a marketing tool. I’m trying to get contact with companies that might be interested in our product. You can say that I’m looking for a shortcut and save the work with knocking doors! But I′m spending many hours to find out if a person is the person he says he is. A look at the profile tells me a lot. The contact list or the CV is useful. Sometimes I miss and after a while I understand that the person is a fraud.

Why not build trust like you do in real world.
Yea, I know that there is technology to accomplish secure authentication with technical solutions from great companies. But it’s a pity that these solutions don’t have any impact within social interactions on internet.
Do you think it’s impossible to achieve authentication in social media than you attack the problem from a technical view. Can I do it manually with help from my brain then software can do it in milliseconds.
From a management point of view: How to build trust with people like customers and suppliers, who interact with our organization within social media? In social media we build a chain of trust. We trust people based on experience. A person’s contact list contains person that in turn have a contact list with other people.
I can verify the identity for most of the people in my contact list and they can verify my identity.
If a company could be verified as a legal organization and if I have a verified connection to that organization, than my identity is quite strong. When I make my payment this information can be used as verification that I am the person I say I am. If one of my contacts introduces a fraud contact then of course my trust gets down and it takes time to build new trust. If I have a verified identity in LinkedIn maybe Facebook can trust my chain of trust.
If I have strong chain of verified trust from different sources I am willing to share this information with you to get trust for my identity on social media.
Another question is how I know that a person have authority to speak on behalf of connected organization – that’s another movie and that movie I would start with “How to delegate the right to delegate the right to delegate?” or more understandable “How should management control their organization?”.
