The trouble with the laws these days is that criminals know their rights better than their wrongs. And technologies are assisting them become smarter. IVRS i.e. interactive voice response system which is a simple tool in filtration tunnel in customer services etc. is now being used by criminals to defraud people at large.

These criminals are using IVR tapes for police summons, police FIR, courier scams, custom clearance, international payment clearance, banking scams and for many other such fancy ways. Setting up IVR mechanism is not that difficult, and one can set up the entire project in merely 3 days or less. Most interestingly same set-up can be used in multiple ways.

What IVR requires? You can turn your home PC in to IVR project using a Dialogic Card, Voice Recordings augmented with voice prompts selection, IVR software application, a database management system (DBMS) and an operator at back-end to handle qualified prospects (read scared people). And all this could be at less than INR 15 K. Well, cost might increase if you would like to use high-end technologies which can handle multiple and concurrent calls.

Firstly, all such IVR calls are frauds and have to relation with police or custom or ITD or ED or CBI or any other law enforcement agencies. Such IVR calls are nothing but outcome of an idle man's brain and the devil's workshop. Such IVR calls needs to be disconnected immediately and ignored. What if they are real? What if it was official summon by police? This probability matrix is the business plan for such fraudsters.

Conclusion: When you disconnect such calls immediately - the communication cycle is not completed, and nothing is served on you legally. No-one is expected to attend each and every call legally. Nobody is expected to understand the language of IVR recordings legally. And nobody is expected to act on unsigned instructions of the concerned authority in this scam world. Ane there are many judgments which can be used for invoking and demanding signed communication from the respective authority.
