?? Scam Alert: Fake INTERAC e-Transfer Notification ??
Friends, please be on high alert for a very convincing phishing text message that's been circulating. It reads something like this:
"INTERAC e-Transfer: Reminder - you have a transfer that hasn't been deposited. See: https://lnterace-Transfr-SecureVerify-AIert.com Data rates may apply"
Here's how you can spot that it's a scam:
1. Check the Sender's Number: INTERAC typically uses encrypted numbers like 100001 for notifications. The scam message comes from a regular phone number, in this case, +1(236)558-6906. This is a major red flag!
2. URL in the Message: The scam message includes a link that looks very similar to a legitimate INTERAC page but is actually a clone. Always check the URL carefully. If it redirects you to a page that is not your bank's official site, do not proceed. The URL provided in the scam message is a fake and designed to steal your information.
Important:
- NEVER enter your personal data on suspicious pages. You risk losing all your funds.
- If you receive such a message and are unsure, >>call your bank directly<< to verify any claims about pending transfers.
Stay safe and always scrutinize messages asking for your personal information or directing you to external sites. Let's keep each other informed and protected against these scams!
