Scaling your leadership – 6 of 8

Bold Expectations

We need to be full of faith, think big, and take risks.

We will not insult God with small thinking and safe living.

How often do you limit God and what He has in store for your life? Honestly, take a moment to reflect. How do your big ideas and boldest prayers compare to His desires and plans for you in this world? Maybe you are on the other side of the spectrum and struggle to overcome the fear of failure, or maybe you just think that God doesn’t care that much about your efforts or desires.

No matter where you are, realize that God cares about you. He is ready to do immeasurably more than we can ask or even imagine because His plans are far better than ours. Knowing this, I continue to find myself constantly limiting God with my small thinking and safe living.

During my experiences assuming leadership of projects and people, I observed the problems and difficulties of the moment, often losing focus, obscuring the final objective or goal. When we focus on the result and what we are going to achieve, the barriers become easier to resolve during the process. You have more courage to face them, like a river that runs down the mountain towards the plain. All barriers, such as rocks, are diverted, the river follows its course, and we continue flowing in life!

Where I once lacked faith, I now have a blessed retrospective seeing so much commitment and effort that I put into what God blessed. What about you? Where are you not taking risks? If you are not sure, perhaps you should ask yourself: where are you afraid of failing? Maybe it is fear of rejection or fear of being inadequate or insufficient. These fears can and will push us not to take risks and limit God's ability to work through us and for us.

Having bold expectations for what God can and will do is a fundamental part of improving your leadership in your life, work, projects, etc. Setting goals that are beyond the realm of possibility because we are waiting for God to show up is having bold expectations. Believing and leading into the future in faith is part of our journey as followers of Christ.

Every moment of every day, we have to choose what we think and what we believe. Our thoughts are a choice, so let’s choose them wisely and choose what honors God.

God, speak to me now as I open Your Word. Let these words pour deep into my spirit and give me faith and courage that honors and glorifies You.
