The allure of the high-end automotive world stretches beyond the luxurious comfort of exquisitely crafted vehicles and the intoxicating notes of their ferocious engines. For Matthew Sackey , Client Services Executive at high-end automotive finance provider JBR Capital , gratification also comes from the people he meets, and the satisfaction of hitting new targets with his team and colleagues.??

You’ve been with JBR Capital for a year now, but how did you learn about the business???

“I actually discovered JBR Capital by listening to one of the company's Founder and Chief Commercial Officer Darren Selig’s ‘Fund Your Passion’ podcasts. It was a really useful way of learning how the business works and operates, and how it tailors its finance agreements for its customers. Then about a week after I listened to the podcast, a recruiter put me in touch with them!”?

?How did your past experiences help you make the move to JBR Capital??

“I’ve always been interested in automotive finance and worked at brokers in administrative and sales roles. Working for brokers has stood me in good stead, because I’ve seen what is needed from the other side of the fence. I already knew what the expectations are from our partners, which helped me form strong working relationships with them early on.?

“What I really like is when we get out to see our brokers and clients face to face. Not only does it make the whole process more personable, but we encounter different people every day, which is what it’s all about. It’s so rewarding to see our customers and brokers happy with the service we provide them, and it helps us build and maintain a rapport with them.”?

As part of Client Services, how does your role fit into the team and the wider business???

"On the whole, we’re guiding clients, dealers, and brokers through the finance process, answering their questions and ensuring they’re kept abreast of all the updates to make everything as straightforward for them as possible. This means that as their first port of call, we will do all the legwork of getting the necessary answers from other teams, such as Collections, Finance and Credit, for example.”??

And how do the various teams throughout the business build that functional working relationship???

“The nature of our department means that we interact with most teams as we’re all pulling towards the same targets, so we all share the same underlying motivation. For example, when we hit £1 billion in originations, we all knew we achieved that together.?

“Importantly though, there is an inclusive and social culture here at JBR Capital. So much effort is put into ensuring that we all get along with one another on a personal level, whether that be through social events such as going bowling or health and wellbeing initiatives. We’re definitely a close-knit group, and it’s through these activities that we get to know each better as people, which only strengthens how we work together!”?

Alongside being part of the team contributing to smashing targets at JBR Capital, Matt has been quite literally scaling new heights outside of work.??

“I really enjoy setting myself new challenges, so I climbed Mount Snowdon recently. I love the fitness challenge of achieving something like that, and I plan to climb a different peak in the Snowdonia National Park soon.??

“I’ve also been playing football for years, which has transitioned into coaching and refereeing. I used to take my little brother to football as well, and that morphed into coaching his team. There are so many parallels between sport and client services. At the heart of both lies the fundamental necessity to work as a supportive team to achieve a shared goal.”?
