Scaling the Hurdles to Advancement This International Women’s Day | #IWD2022

At Linkage, we’ve been tracking the perception of women toward their organizations for the last six years—nearly 10,000 women now across industries globally. We specifically look at four levers critical to attracting, engaging and retaining women leaders: Culture, Talent Systems, Executive Action, and Leadership Development for Women. And we also measure organizational values fit, engagement, commitment and net promoter score.

A few months ago, we aggregated the 2021 data and?surfaced an alarming trend?we have never seen before: For the first time, every leading indicator went down, and net promoter scores tanked. A startling number of women would not recommend their company as a great place for women to work.

These leading indicators are a call to action.

Participation of women in the workforce is way down; there are fewer women in the workforce today than in the last 33 years.

And burnout for women leaders is way up.?According to a McKinsey study, 42% of women felt burned out in 2021, compared with 32% in 2020.

The result??We are losing our women—and the incredible leadership, knowledge, and skills they bring—as they continue to face the professional and personal fallout of the evolving pandemic. But there is much we can do as leaders to help.

This International Women’s Day (IWD), we recognize the accomplishments and contributions of women as part of our mission to change the face of leadership and achieve gender parity.

We acknowledge and support the development of women to overcome the real challenges—the hurdles—women leaders face?every day?as they navigate this changing world. And equally, we call on organizations to further develop, as well. We know women leaders perform better, stay at their companies longer and advance in their careers when organizations address the four dimensions we measure:

  1. Culture—Do women feel valued and respected in the organization?
  2. Talent Systems—Do women have equal opportunities and access to things like stretch assignments, promotions and sponsorship?
  3. Executive Action—Do women believe executives are really committed and taking action to support and sponsor women?
  4. Leadership Development for Women—Do women feel the organization is investing in their development?

Godwin Kwaku

-- WHY PEOPLE AND NATIONS NEED SURVIVE

2 年

Can't help getting every veil off my eyes and heart, it's all coming together when my birthday is exactly same 9 March, marking my 56th celebration. Wednesday, that's translated "Kwaku," named for the one given birth to on that day. History had it that my birth came with a very heavy rainfall, extraordinarily heavier rainfall, on the 9th March,1966. It was in one St Anthony Hospital in Ghana. When going through historic records, I found in the count of centuries, might it be 66th?; there had nearly come a "fatal war." But for a very heavy rainfall, that war couldn't take place. Today, the world is tick-tock-ing with another "raw war." Coincidentally, we, all over the world today, mark the International Women's Day. A day of challenge to rescue, a day of challenge to track leadership, and a day of regret to see how unfairly our mothers were used, refused and abused. No gender victimization, but see how much rejection the weaker sex faces in issues of "gay practice, gender transplanting, bisexuality and so on. To ask if this isn't going war way, in scientifically political revolution brings both natural sex a questionable standstill. That's my first and foremost secret disclosure.
