Scale Your Leadership

Scale Your Leadership

If you want to scale your business or team, you must scale your leadership

When I joined StoneAge over 15 years ago, I had no idea how to grow a company. I learned through trial and error, by taking risks and surrounding myself with people smarter than me.

But the most important lesson I've learned is that to scale the business, I had to scale my leadership. I had to be better than I was the year before. I had to improve myself and build new skills. I didn't want the company to outgrow my capabilities, so I pushed myself to learn, grow, and improve.

Besides capital, scaling a business requires leadership with vision, curiosity and grit. But how do you do this?

?? Surround yourself with people who have done what you want to do.

?? Have a clear vision and plan.

?? Develop ambidexterity.

?? Develop your leaders.

?? Never settle for mediocre.

Scaling a company isn’t easy, nor is it a simple process. It requires vision, strategic capacity and grit. But it’s worth it in the long run. When you scale, you not only solve more of your customers’ problems, but you also have the opportunity to create meaningful and engaging jobs for more people.

Leadership Tip: Be a Leadership Role Model

Leadership comes with great responsibility. And if you want to be a transformational leader, you must embody your values, walking the walk, not just talking the talk.

This doesn't mean you have to be perfect or hide your flaws. Just the opposite. No one is perfect, and we are all working to improve ourselves. People are inspired by the struggle and then triumph.

If you want to be a leader worth following, embody the behaviors and characteristics you want to see in others. Embrace your flaws and be honest about the setbacks and mistakes you've made on your journey to becoming a better person and leader.

Be a role model, showing what it's like to connect with your flaws, values, virtues, and work ethic. People want to follow this kind of leader.
