I’ve got to be honest.

?

I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with social media.?

?

I have a nostalgia for outdated platforms—my original Myspace page complete with a Top 8 and the latest emo track I was feeling that week, my original Blogspot blog about crafting, and the V1 of Instagram that was all about sharing pictures worth a thousand words alongside a caption that felt more like poetry.

?

Alas, that isn’t the era we exist in today.

?

Today, we have a plethora of platforms—tried and true ones like Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook, and upcoming ones like TikTok, BeReal, and Clubhouse.?

?

The ones that were once beloved by journalists and marginalized communities have now?become a hellscape of racism and misogyny.

?

Ahem. Twitter.?

?

Every business owner I know recognizes the unprecedented opportunities these platforms offer: the potential to reach millions of people for free, so long as we’re willing to show up and keep contributing content to their algorithms.

?

That's the rub.?

?

Every entrepreneur I know?also?feels overwhelmed trying to figure out how to pick the right platforms, create custom and consistent content for each, have time to engage and grow their following, and also, you know, run their business.

?

The answer? You don’t.

?

Scalable social media strategy is about understanding your ideal audience, knowing the primary platform they want to connect with your brand on, and building content that resonates with them on that?one?platform over time. It’s about starting small, staying consistent, and growing your cadence of content and presence on the platform as you have the ability to hire or outsource the work to someone else.

?

People often ask me how I run two blogs, a newsletter, our email content, webinars, and the 8 different social media channels me and my company are associated with.

?

I don’t.

?

I have a team for that.

?

And if your goal is to produce a similar volume of quality content,?you should aspire to have one too.

?

But if you’re not there yet, or are just needing some more guidance along the way, don’t fret. My team and I are going to continue offering up guidance over the next month on how to make your social media strategy more scalable in 2023.

?

Stay tuned, follow along on?our Instagram, and make sure to sign up for the webinar I’ll be teaching with our resident social media expert, Allena Fleming , in February.

?

Here’s to doing less and connecting more in 2023.

?

?—Madeline?
