SCA People in Profile - Kieran Grant

What was your dream job when you were younger?????

It’s a far cry from my current role but when I was younger, I dreamed of being a lawyer. In fact, I studied Law at university for two years before seeing the light and transferring into a Media degree, majoring in Advertising. While I still to this day lean on some of the skills I picked up in that time, including the love for a healthy debate and persuasive writing, it’s safe to say I regret the $50K+ of wasted HECS debt!?

What is your current role at SCA?

My current role at SCA is as a Senior Account Manager in the Sydney Agency Sales Team.

Tell us about your SCA Journey. Did you study? What did you study? Where did your SCA journey begin??????

SCA wasn’t my first foray into the world of audio/radio. In fact, I started my career as a part-time receptionist at NOVA while I finished my studies in Advertising/Marketing. Whilst certainly not the most glamorous of roles, my time as receptionist gave me a unique insight into the working operations of the business & each cog that made the fast-paced industry of broadcast audio tick. Safe to say I became obsessed. After one year as receptionist, I then set my sights on a Sales Coordinator role & haven’t looked back since. Eventually promoted to Agency Account Manager, a role I’ve had the fortune of holding for 5+ years across two different businesses, I started my tenure at SCA in 2021. I’ve loved every minute of my two years at SCA, and never fail to be blown away by the rapid leaps and bounds the business has taken across that time in cementing itself as Australia’s leading total audio provider.?

What do you love about SCA and your role in particular???????????

No two days are the same. Whether strategizing with Fast Food providers around how we can leverage the power of SCA to sell more burgers, to on the complete flip side, ideating with Banking clients around how we can drive increase acquisition, the creative lens on my role requires me wearing multiple hats which I love. My role is also incredibly people-focused, in that I get the privilege of working with amazing clients and agency partners each day, which for an extrovert like me who can talk under water, is the dream!???

What would be some advice you would give to young people starting their career in Media??

Say yes to every opportunity that comes your way. Whilst it may sometimes seem unconventional and at odds with the career path you’ve mapped out in your mind, you never know where that “yes” can lead you. Much like a studying lawyer now selling audio integration!

What’s your favourite podcast of all time? ???????

The LiSTNR podcast The Books That Changed My Life in partnership with the Shameless girls was right up my alley, in that not only did it provide an inside-look into some of Australia’s biggest media personalities and academics, but for a lazy reader like me, it also provided great elevator summaries of books!

If you didn’t have to work right now, what would you be doing instead??????????????

I’d like to think I’d be yacht hopping across the Mediterranean. A boy can dream!??
