We are delighted to share our next prizewinner’s story, Torogul uulu Shamilbek, the top achiever from Kyrgyzstan with highest marks in 2 exams: Strategic Business Reporting and Strategic Business Leader! Shamilbek took the exam in remote format in September 2023 and kindly agreed to share his experience.

Firstly, we would like to congratulate you on the excellent exam result in September 2023 session. What tips would you share with other ACCA students preparing for their exams?

Thanks for the congratulations! For the tips I would like to share that the most important tip is effort and time put into preparation. Nothing beats that. Additionally, it is good to use all available information for the preparation to the exams such as ACCA articles, study materials, open sources etc.

Take me to the moment when you realized that your hard work obtaining ACCA qualification had eventually started paying off? I personally started to realize effect of ACCA studying on me immediately. As soon as I started studying and taking exams some gaps in the knowledge filled and it became much more easier and more interesting to apply theory to the real world problems.

What were the biggest challenges on your ACCA journey? How did you overcome them? The biggest challenge is to find time. On my work it can be quite busy and to balance between work, studying and social life can be difficult at times.

What advantages did you find in taking remote exam? Remote exam is quite useful since there are no ACCA exam centers in my city. The nearest city with ACCA exam center would be Almaty which is 4-5 hours ride. Additionally, it is comfortable to sit the exam at your own room in familiar setting.

Have you used any tuition provided by ACCA learning partners? If yes, could you please specify which one and how had it helped you to get the exam result? None are used. All my preparation is done via free available materials. Although, I used study hub which ACCA introduced not so long ago. That is a great platform for revision and studying.

Tell me how passing any ACCA exam has helped you in your career so far? Passing ACCA exams has helped me immensely in my career at KPMG Kazakhstan . ACCA provides all the knowledge for the auditing / financial reporting. Practical experience in the walls of KPMG also helped me in passing my exams. I would like to express my gratitude to KPMG for always supporting myself in the passing ACCA exams.

Why do you want to become ACCA qualified? What is your biggest dream, goal, aspiration? I want to become ACCA qualified as ACCA is the worldwide recognizable body for the accounting and finance professionals. It sets high standards for its members, and I want to prove that I am capable of delivering high quality services to the Clients. My current goal is to become a member and develop professionally further.

If you could give a single most important piece of advice to the current students or those who haven’t decided to register for ACCA yet, what would it be? My advice is to believe in yourself and put effort and time. ACCA is worth doing and interesting too! All of us can do it if we try our best!
