We are thrilled to welcome you back to our series of case studies that spotlight the remarkable individuals who play a crucial role in the foundation of Senior Bird Bellows.

In this week's feature, I had the pleasure of engaging in a thoughtful conversation with Charlotte Francis . Despite being relatively new to the company, having joined just a few months ago, Charlotte has seamlessly integrated herself into the vibrant SBB work culture. She actively collaborates with a variety of departments, bringing her valuable expertise from the finance sector to the team as part of her role as a Financial Controller.

During our enlightening discussion, we explored the compelling reasons that drew her to Senior Bird Bellows. Charlotte shared insights about her background prior to joining the company, her experiences within the supportive company culture, and a range of other relevant topics that shed light on her journey and contributions.

  • Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your background?

I am originally from Essex, but I have lived in the North-West since attending University. I began my career at PwC Manchester through their graduate scheme, where I obtained my ICAEW ACA qualification. Once I became qualified, I knew I wanted to work in a business where I could truly make an impact. This led me to pursue roles within industry, which ultimately brought me to my current position as Financial Controller at Bird Bellows. Outside of work, I enjoy playing hockey for Bowdon Hockey Club in my spare time.

  • Why did you choose to work for Bird Bellows?

I chose to work for Bird Bellows because of its strong reputation for innovation and commitment to manufacturing high-quality products. I believe that the company truly cares about its employees and offers a dynamic work environment that encourages personal growth, which are key factors that motivated me to pursue this opportunity.

My role as the Financial Controller at Bird Bellows will offer me a mix of career advancement, skill development, leadership opportunities, and the chance to make a significant impact on the company’s financial success, all of which I am looking forward to.

  • Is there anything that has surprised you about working at SBB?

When I first started at SBB, I was surprised by the number of employees who have been here a very long time, which really speaks to the company’s reputation as a great employer. Having worked here for a few months, I can clearly see why this is the case – thanks to strong employee engagement and a consistent drive to improve.

  • How would you describe SBB’s culture and work environment?

SBB fosters a strong sense of teamwork across all departments. Employees are encouraged to work together, share ideas, and support each other to achieve common goals. The company values open communication and collaboration, which helps create a positive and inclusive atmosphere. These are all amplified with regular communication around the company’s values.

Additionally, SBB understands the importance of maintaining a healthy work-life balance, whilst of course maintaining high performance standards. The company encourages flexibility and supports employees in balancing their professional and personal lives, contributing to a positive overall work environment.

  • What do you enjoy most about working for SBB?

Whilst I have only been working at SBB since the beginning of January, what I enjoy most is the collaborative and supportive culture. The team-oriented environment enables creativity and allows for the exchange of ideas, which makes each day feel dynamic and fulfilling.

I also appreciate the company’s commitment to continuous professional development, as it provides ample opportunities for growth and learning, which I am looking forward to taking full advantage of in the future.
