I get a lot of DMs asking me about this topic. So, I thought why not posting something on this, which can benefit not one, but many.
Today I will be talking about the clients you should avoid working with.
While starting out as a freelancer, one of the most common hurdles that you may face is having to come across and deal with low-quality clients. ?
As a newbie, you may be excited and enthusiastic to put your knowledge into practice, get client project experience, and build your portfolio. But unfortunately, you end up with low-quality clients.
So, here comes 3 recurring behaviors that I’ve seen among "Low-Quality Clients."
First, are those clients who readily accept to pay you without getting on a discovery call with you and discussing their business goals and what they want from this project. This shows their lack of trust and seriousness in their own business. They’ll surely don’t pay you and end up wasting everyone’s time.
Second, are those types of clients who would want you to start working for the project with no advance payment or no promise of when they will make your payment. Such clients intend to just get work done from your end and they might ghost you later. That's why I always advise everyone to ask for 50% payment as advance before starting work.?
The third type of client is those clients who have unreasonable expectations on the project results. Despite trying to reason with them that it's not possible in, say, the given span of time or within a budget, they don't listen to you. They still expect you to get amazing results when they are not willing to invest enough time or money in the project. ?
That's it, guys. Those were the 3 types of clients that I’ve come across in my freelancing career that have cost me valuable time and money. If you want to succeed as a freelancer you should definitely avoid working with these clients.
