When we are young, we are taught the difference between saying yes and no. We learn the distinction of learning that “yes” means “I agree” to what you’re proposing, and “no” means that this option is not for you. There are always benefits to saying “yes”, but it’s important to remind ourselves that saying no is just (if not more) as important as being a yes woman (or man). When you think that saying no may come off as “rude” or “inconsiderate”, take a look at these points below that highlight the necessity of “no’s”.
You establish standards. It isn't fair to assume that others can read your mind. If someone presents you with an offer that doesn’t align with your core values and beliefs, saying “no” gives them perspective of what you prioritize in life and what you currently want in your view of reality. You do not have to say “no” in a rude or entitled way, you can say it with pride, confidence, and power knowing that it’s from an authentic place.?

You exhibit decisiveness. Being sure about decisions is crucial to your mental wellbeing. Before making any final choice, really examine WHY you are choosing this option and how it will positively or negatively affect your future. Once you make this choice, trust yourself that you have the appropriate knowledge and intuition better your life on your own.??
You speak your truth. Being honest with yourself first is most important. If you feel that you’re not being organic with your deepest feelings and intentions, it is time to reevaluate where you are in life. If you’re constantly altering your feelings and beliefs to match other’s agenda, it is easily to lose your sense of identity. Without true knowledge of what’s in your heart, it can be easy to get manipulated and taken advantage of.?
You get your desired result. At the end of the day, making a decision for someone else will not fulfill your happiness. If saying “yes” comes out of fear of disappointing someone else, the anxiety will override the sense of accomplishment in the task. You control the things that you allow in your life, so say no with pride and believe that your dreams are on their way to your hands.?
