If they say it's dead, what are they selling you?
We've all seen the posts, haven't we?
Cold calling is dead ("people don't buy from strangers - buy my in-person networking service instead")
Cold email is dead ("Google has killed mass email outreach - buy my mail platform to hack it instead")
Social selling is dead ("it's only marketing - buy my cold calling course instead")
Maybe you've even posted one?
Everyone has an agenda (and that's OK) but don't confuse statement with opinion.
It's an advertising trick as old as time. If you want to sell something, tell people the alternative is useless - the thing is, at best it's lazy, at worst it's downright offensive.
What works for one sector may not work for another. What works for one company may not work for another.
But don't for a minute think you're fooling anyone by saying that something is dead if you make money from the alternative!
