Say this instead of "I don't know'' in English

No one likes to hear you saying Ahm, I don't know/ I have no idea. You leave an impression of incomeptence and unprofessionalism.

Here are a couple of tips what you could say in English:

In case that you should know

Let me get back to you.

“Getting back” to someone is contacting them again at a later time. Give yourself some time to think about that.

  • I need some time to organize all data that you need. Let me get back to you on that.?

  • I am rather now busy but I can maange it in an hour or so, but let me get back to you later today.

Please give me (time) to ~

This is a very similar option to the previous one.

  • Please give me some time to find out, I have it here somewhere.

  • Give me an hour and I'll follow up with the answer.

I will text you shortly

If it is your collegaue, and most likely you use Skype or some other chat for communication

  • I need some time to organize all data that you need. I'll text you shortly on this.?

  • I am rather now busy but I can maange it in an hour or so, but I'll text you on this later today.

In case that that it does not concern you

I’m (probably) not the best person to ask.

If a question isn’t related to what you do at work, you can suggest that it would be better to ask someone else.?

  • I wish I could help, but I'm not the best person to ask.?
  • I think that....(name) could help you with this.
  • You can ask...(name)

That’s not my area of expertise.

Another choice is to directly say that something is not your speciality.

  • I'm sorry, but that's not my area of expertise and I don't want to give you out-of -the date information.
  • That's not my area of expertise, but I think this solution might work.

I hope these tips will help you in daily communication with your colleagues and partners.

See you soon in new newsletter :)
