>>>They Say I'm a Talent 360<<<
Well, if you can not impact let others impact you. If you can't inspire others, don't let an inspiration pass by like a whistle of a sharp wind in a dry desert. Absorb as much as you can at the time when you have ample time and resources especially when you are young!
>>I STARTED FROM SOMEWHERE!
After college, I had no skills that could earn me a living. On joining Kenyatta University Life was hard and I'd rather not tell how hard it was since Y'all have a story probably the worst anyone can listen.
I had a friend and a roommate who somehow in his early twenties, he had seen much than most of the adults I can relate to. He was a self-taught speed typist, graphics designer and he could magically heal laptops and computers of colleagues when admitted on ICU under his care. Personally, I had not taken computer literacy anywhere! But I love the computers on my first touch at our computer lab at the time.
>>SURVIVAL
Life being unfair like we all believe it is, I decided to learn some graphics and designs. With the sole purpose to design and print for all clubs and events within the campus. My first blueprint was pathetic. But I never gave up and perfected my skills on a trial and error. Life started getting better but on a rugged curve.
To cope with the situation, I learned photography. But not at professional level. In 2013, I landed a job to take photos at InterContinental Hotel Nairobi for a client who had a ball-room wedding. Got myself a Canon 7D from a friend and I did not have much time to familiarize myself with the venue setup. I have memories I'd rather not tell of what happened next on this event.
With time, I had learned Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro. I had become a professional graphics designer. The need to make it through the had life, saw me struggling to learn so many things and my list had become fruitful. Today, I can type 55 Wpm. I can play guitar and I have one, I am a good WP-Specialist, I have worked for brands like Kilimall and Maxxis Tyres. In US and UK, I have done brand consulting with several brands including working for merchants in the famous Amazon dot com.
>>DEFYING THE ODDS
Close friends thought I am a junk of all trades. I wasn't and will never be one. I am a skilled person who had to find a path to follow. I did study management science at the graduate level. But I did not wait for that to feed me, my wife and kids. My skills did.
In the struggle to finding that path, I moved to the ranks of serving as a mid-level manager. Served as Lead in a digital marketing department specifically in Email, online campaigns and PPC strategy. It all started from a self-taught graphics designer and a content creator for amazon merchants. Today I am a proud and successful digital marketing specialist. I settled for digital marketing, specifically in Pay per click advertising SEO and eCommerce. I am a digital marketing specialist who has 360-degree skills.
Don't forget where you started from, who you started with and where you are going. "Don't steal and be kind. Help the next one in line" - McGraw
Life is a system. Find relevance to yours. Learn a lot and don't be lazy. Don't be lost in what people define you as. In the end, your ends will finally meet. And I gain, do not feel jealous when you find me playing guitar yet I am not a musician or simply for doing what you can't do. I used my time well!
