Employee Spotlight | A glimpse at our people and their journeys ??

Meet Aishwarya Ashok , a tech enthusiast who seamlessly blends storytelling and technology in her role at Zoho. A firm believer in nonlinear career paths, Aishwarya transitioned into product management, combining her interests in both building and marketing products.

1. Tell us something about your background, Aishwarya. What led you to work for Zoho?

I enjoy all things tech and found myself curiously digging into apps and writing stuff, such as blogs and thought pieces on the internet. This intersection of storytelling and technology brought me into B2B SaaS and product marketing.

2. What is it that you do exactly? Explain what your work entails.

Initially, I joined the product marketing team and helped with content and communications. Soon, my parallel interests in exploring the product capabilities and customer market got me helming core marketing launches and initiating community-led activities—one of which was starting a podcast, which was so much fun!

This interdisciplinary thinking led me into the world of product management—where I could combine my interests to build, ideate, ship, and market products.

?3. Have you always wanted to work in product management?

I'm a huge believer in nonlinear career paths, and learning is best when it's built around interests. I'm grateful that product management came as a connecting thread in my journey that brought along experiences with storytelling, design, and marketing.

?4. What would your advice be for an aspiring product manager? Any resources that you'd recommend?

I equate "product management" more with "product building." As a builder, one can holistically care about the craft, from ideas and usage to messaging and retention. Embracing product management is more of a mindset than a job role. Observations and creativity are effective outcomes of that mindset, which, as product builders, one can get to practice and hone.

5. What do you love the most about your job?

A lot about building a product is being able to think with critical common sense. Caring deeply about quality, experimenting with assumptions, and following my curiosity have been very satisfying. Beyond occupation, this is a joyful trait to build in oneself.

??6. What's in the works for you right now? How excited are you about it?

I'm excited about working a lot with hardware (something new yet again for me) and the software interface that ties together event experiences.

There's a lot to learn from customers when you meet them, and it does put your focus on the right things, too! ?

?7. One work tip that you swear by.

The better way to build products is continuously focusing on the craft—the willingness to pay attention to detail, over and over.
