Say Hello to Someone. Today.

We don't smile. We don't say hello.
We queue up for security check at the airport. That person in front of us in the queue, turns to look at us. But we don’t look him in the eye. We don't smile. We stare at the boarding pass instead. Boarding at 815, we read to ourselves again. For the fifth time.
The attendant who gives us a parking ticket. Takes our money. Gives us the change. We don’t say hello to her. Or ask her how she is.
We’ve spent a lifetime walking past people. Without a smile. Without saying hello.
And now we’ve become impartial. Friend or stranger, doesn’t matter. We’ve stopped smiling and saying hello. Even to our friends.
We don’t smile. We don’t say hello. Maybe we should.
They’ll feel better. Heck, we’ll feel better too. People are often, lonely. Alone, in a crowded world. They need someone who smiles at them. And brightens up the day. Someone who says hello. Just like that. Maybe they’ll feel less lonely. Give them a reason to smile back. And start a conversation.
Mental health is a real problem. Loneliness is killing. We all need to reach out. Smile. Say hello.
We live in interesting times. People have a million followers on Twitter and Insta. And no friends in life. We all need someone who smiles. Cares. Makes us feel good.
Be that kind of person. Next time you see the security guy, or a stranger, or that girl at the parking lot, smile. Say hello. When there’s a smile on the face, the eyes smile too. So the mask is no excuse.
Remember that old, forgotten friend? Call. Say hello.
Make someone else’s day. Today. You will, won’t you?
