By destiny a peacock, cuckoo and a monkey grew up since childhood in a pristine forest far away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
As children, when they grew, it did not matter that the peacock was the most prettiest of the three, the cuckoo had the sweetest voice and the monkey the sharpest and quickest wit of all the three. They lived happily with dreams of what each of them will become in life.
As they grew up, the peacock started getting noticed for its prettiness and the cuckoo for its sweet voice. The monkey was criticized for being unstable and wavering. Their days in college passed and they were fed about the differences that they had. They were given a standard that they had to live upto. What the peacock managed with its good looks and cuckoo with its sweetest voice, the monkey was branded a rebel.
With no one to understand the trauma of the monkey, they passed college and moved to the city for a living. What peacock could achieve due to its charm, and the cuckoo with its sweetness, the monkey found it difficult to make ends meet. The Peacock and Cuckoo thought that the monkey was eccentric and unstable, whereas the monkey started feeling jealous about the success the peacock and cuckoo had in their lives.
However, the native intelligence of the monkey prevailed and now it had made it its one point agenda to bring disrepute to the peacock and cuckoo. So the monkey spread a rumor, that the peacock with its provocative dance and the cuckoo with its voice were corrupting the youth of the nation. The monkey took upon itself the responsibility of protecting traditions and culture and it soon found a lot of other ignored monkeys that came in support.
Thus the beautiful friendship of three beautiful but very differently abled friends were spoilt forever.
Reflections: When I see what is happening in the world today, I see each of us have either become the peacock, cuckoo or the monkey. Isn’t it time we changed a system that tries to make everyone a clone of the other and spearhead a society that cherishes and leverages on everyone’s strength???
