Hello new and true friends!
I am curious if you were able to experience more satisfaction after reading last week’s newsletter..maybe reflected a little about when you are content, pleased, or happy with yourself.
And if so, how long did you stay satisfied?
Our minds tend to distract us from the present moment because the brain is hard wired to keep us safe, as it scans and focuses on the past or future to prevent us from harm. It’s not right or wrong, just doing its job.
By being Aware and mindful of your mental and emotional states, you can stay more satisfied, and this is what Emotional Intelligence is about ~ working from the inside out.
So, even though you might have experienced satisfaction for a brief amount of time, your mind can distract you away, as it reminds you of other “things†and as you turn your attention towards it, which disconnects you from being fulfilled.
I invite you to think about how satisfaction can be depleted over time.
Such as buying a new car, being in a new relationship, or simply eating a meal. The first few months of driving the car feels great and the same goes with being in a relationship or taking the first bites of a wonderful meal. These are all new and exciting as you are getting the feel of it, tasting, enjoying the experience and the other person.
After a while your satisfaction lessens because the experience starts to become a “task,†something to check off your list, and you might start to rush or “get through†the experience because you are not Savoring the moment because your mind becomes consumed with other "things" on your to do list.
Before you know it, you’ve DEVOURED the task/food/experience and are most likely left with feeling unsatisfied.
Are you Savoring the moment or Devouring it to get to the next “thing
Reminds me of the classic Tootsie Pop advertisement (I’ve included the link below for nostalgia).
“Mr. Owl how many licks does it take to get the Tootsie Roll center of a Tootsie Pop?â€.

I hope you can relate with me, enjoying something (Tootsie Pop) and yet you can’t help from “biting†to get to the “center†or get to the end goal/completion, which robs you of long-term satisfaction, and interesting enough can affect your long-term health.
I will share more scientific evidence on the correlation between Satisfaction and heart health in my next newsletter, so please subscribe!
I invite you to give yourself permission to SLOW DOWN and ease your mind so you can SAVOR the moment, there will always be more to enjoy!

1 å¹´What great advice--to savor and enjoy the moment rather than rush through things and miss the experience and feel less satisfied. It is our human conditioning that, with intention and awareness we can catch our habitual patterns and shift into appreciating and savoring the joy of the moment.

1 å¹´Great article. Thank you for sharing. Looking for satisfaction from the outside never lasts long. We need to learn to feel satisfied on the inside no matter what the outside provides us with. It's a practice. ??
