Saving the Last Few Rhinos in South Africa from Poachers

Once, a long time ago, large numbers of Rhinos roamed Africa, sadly now this is not so. Since 2007 a dramatic rise in the demand for Rhino horns has come from Asia. With such a high value, poachers will stop at nothing to get a horn, even investing in sophisticated methods such as helicopters to poach. We need your help to save the beautiful Rhino species from extinction. Habitat loss is a significant challenge to the Rhino populations as human development encroaches further and further, increasingly fragmenting the threatened Rhino and putting the survival of this awesome species at even greater risk. Extreme weather events such as drought and flooding due to climate change threatens the species even further. This project is funding our extremely urgent anti-poaching efforts in South Africa!

You can help Action Change stop the poachers and save the last few beautiful Rhinos in South Africa. Each and every donation will save at least one life - a massive step forward in tackling the criminal masterminds who are running these illegal poaching gangs, breaking into the reserve, killing Rhinos and savagely taking their horns for profit. The financial incentive to Rhino poachers, combined with very high unemployment figures in rural communities, mean that poachers will force entry into these reserves to get a shot at a Rhino, often at high risk to themselves. We have to act fast, to protect the Rhinos. Confidentiality in our operations is essential.?

The last few Rhino are at risk from ruthless organised poaching gangs who sell their horns.

Rhino poaching is a devastating problem across both the public and private sectors. Everyday at least three rhinos are killed by poachers in South Africa. The reserve is fighting a difficult war against organised illegal poaching gangs who are forever two steps ahead of the Rhino protectors who are working tirelessly on the ground.?

Poaching gangs uses helicopters and break into the reserve to get a shot at the Rhinos.

The success of this project will significantly improve the security of all the wildlife protected by this game reserve, deter illegal Rhino poachers and enable a fast and effective reaction when illegal activity on the reserve is reported. Protection of the Rhino and other wildlife will ensure the sustainability of ecotourism ventures on the reserve and thus the survival of the reserve itself. Lodges on this reserve employ hundreds of people from surrounding communities, jobs that will be lost if these businesses are not able to secure their key assets – their wildlife.

Please help us end this savage loss to the world - donate now to save the life of a Rhino: https://actionchange.org/project/protecting-the-rhino/
