Saving the Bay
Andrew Paterson
Award-winning Media Producer-Director | Impact-driven Communications, Compelling Storytelling
Growing up on Long Island I've always been drawn to the water, so moving to my slice of Maryland nearly 25 years ago made sense -- keeping close to a coastal environment. In that time I've mined the area for stories to tell, often diving into the culture and natural history surrounding the region's defining feature and natural wonder, the Chesapeake Bay.
Forty years ago this week state and federal efforts to conserve and restore the nation's largest estuary were formalized with the creation of the Chesapeake Bay Program. While progress has been a bit stop and go through the years, I've been thrilled to witness and share with audiences the passionate dedication of those working the environmental frontlines here -- scientists, crabbers, oyster farmers...
Of course there's still a long way to go.
