SAVING A380 & SAVING AIRPORTS
There have been several media coverages about A380 and mostly focused on the issue claiming that A380 is not the right aircraft. That is what I would call BS! It seems like parties who are in favour of medium size twin engine powered aircraft are drumming beats to push A380 out of the market.
People must remember that A380 was created to reduce congestions at the airports. We all aware of legal battles for the airport expansions. London Heathrow airport's third runway project faced heavy criticism and fought legal battles to win the case. Additional terminal, additional runway have been political hot issue every time.
Governments and airport management companies should take actions to avoid or reduce those time consuming legal battles. The best way is forcing airlines who operate multiple long-haul flights per day to operate some or all of the flights by A380. Singapore Airlines operate multiple flights per day between London and Singapore, Emirates operates multiple number of flights per day between London and Emirates and some of them are operated by A380. Korean Air, Air China, Cathay Pacific, etc operate multiple flights per day using London Heathrow and London Gatwick. They couldn't get additional slots at Heathrow so added flights to London Gatwick.
Restricting slots but asking them to operate bigger aircraft such as A380 instead would be a solution. A380 should be the solution to reduce airport congestions at busy airports. Some airlines operates 4, 5 or more long-haul flights using A330, A350, B777, B787, etc and they can accommodate increasing demands by changing the aircraft type to A380 instead of asking for additional slots.
Bilateral air service agreements should be amended and restrict the number of flights allowed but increase the number of passengers allowed to the number typically accommodated by A380. That will make airlines switch aircraft operated to A380 instead of medium size twin engine powered widebody aircraft.
Authorities should stand firm against those airlines operating multiple number of long-haul flights to change all or some of them to be operated by A380. People protesting against airport expansions should point out operating A380 can reduce the needs for the airport expansion.

5 年I am seriously having a brand I dreamed about as young kid and want to make it on A380s and hold out all a340-500/600 , and I have thought about all flight routes and connections and one of thing that no low cost and national carrier airlines are doing but I would like make an innovations in that. Furthermore I have study broad internationally and as uni staff agree when I said soon we have car jam traffics in air , when companies and national carriers don’t understand can’t just putting plenty small planes in air just because use excuse for things cheap and high cost when they don’t calculate populations and geography together. That’s why we need plent and half of flight industry with double deckers and big long a340 and not flying avarage 250 people half around globe in plenty small planes when it’s already above 2-3 billions people that want to flying already into futures. Although new energy and fuel is coming eitherway that doesn’t stop size of function all growing populations needs. I would like to find global investors that can understand and listen and calculate populations and geography not money. Because without quality peoples don’t care about quantity. Regard Andreas

6 年In full agreement with your views, the A380 and similar aircraft if any are the solution to the increased airport and routes congestion problem, sooner or later there will be an orders boom.

6 年Though I'm not well versed on the technical aspect of the matter. This article makes a lot of sense. With aviation due to grow by 100% by 2036, the requirements for bigger capacity and fuller airplane to fly at any given time is imperative to avoid over congestion of the skies. B
