Great efficiency, water saving and excellent yield
Drip irrigation is a tecnique able to administer an adequate amount of water to crops: Water is supplied in a very slow and controlled way, it is deposited on the surface of the soil, or it is directed directly to the roots of plants.
Drip irrigation technique is one of the most virtuous in agriculture, because it gives the opportunity to reduce waste by distributing water only in the crops concerned, preventing it from being dispersed in non-productive points such as roads or uncultivated fields.
While the high-pressure irrigation system (the more traditional one, which throws water spray from above and reaches the entire field indistinctly) involves a higher waste of water resources, which end up wetting areas not useful for cultivation, drip irrigation gives the possibility to dose the amount of useful water more accurately, choosing only the one you need and reaching the part of the plant that is most needed (roots).
But how much water does drip irrigation save? According to the latest data, the water given to plants is reduced by as much as 70%.
Waste is thus eliminated and especially in areas with high drought rates, drip irrigation is a valuable help. Even the crops benefit from it, precisely because dangerous water stagnations are avoided and what little is wasted evaporates in a short time without damaging plants and flowers.

The agricultural sector is characterized by being the largest user of water. More than half of the water used in Italy is used for irrigation purposes. So you need greater efficiency and precision to reduce waste: drip irrigation garantees an efficiency higher than 90% spray, rotor or rain irrigation, which is normally between 35% and 50%. For example, if we consider a tomato plantation, for a kilo you need 200 liters with more irrigation. With drip irrigation you only need 80 liters, so let’s save more than 50 percent water.
So, drip irrigation is an excellent ally to reconcile the need for irrigation agriculture and reduce the water effort, put to the test by drought and rising temperatures.
