Save Two Ways with Additive Tooling
Next Chapter Manufacturing
Tooling to Production Simplified: The most efficient tooling in the industry
One of the biggest objections we hear with Additive Tooling is it is too expensive compared to traditional methods. This newsletter recaps a very important talk I gave at PTXPO 2023 and I want to pass it along to help you and your team. This looks at how you can actually SAVE upfront tooling costs as well as production. We see RFQs come in to quote with conformal cooling and the feedback is that additive tooling is more expensive than traditional tooling and that is where it dies (comparison shown below). The operational savings are obvious but the added tooling cost is the killer.
What Was Missed:
That conformally cooled mold is $72,000 more, and now produces 150MM units a year when the customer demand was only 80MM units.?OVERKILL!?I agree with you, it is too expensive! Why? Because you don't need that many parts!
Right Thinking = Right Results:
This is where our experts are here to guide you to the right decisions that actually save you money upfront. For this particular project, we knew the customer demand was 80MM units so a 32-cavity mold would meet the demand. Now let's look at the 32-cavity mold with conformal cooling compared to the 48-cavity mold. It costs $148,000 LESS so that produced an instant savings right off the top. Imagine delivering that kind of savings to your customer to win the project (See details below).
In addition to the upfront savings, the molder profited an additional $90,000 per year on the job by running in a smaller press with the 32-cavity mold. It is a winning combination to save both ways on the project.
I trust you will consider how our team of experts can save you tens of thousands of dollars in critical areas of the project that benefit both you and your customers. If you have a project in mind please respond to this email and I will be glad to have our team review your project and provide you with an accurate quote to start saving and winning at the molding game.
